Questions for surgeon and nutritionist...

Recommended Posts

I posted this in another area and didn't get many responses, so I decided to repost!

I have my appointment with the nutritionist tomorrow and the surgeon in a few weeks. I am trying to make a list of questions to ask both and would like to know what you all asked as I am sure I am forgetting things! Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks for the help!

At my nutritional consult, the dietician presented so much info that it would have made any prepared questions moot. I just asked questions about what she presented and that was enough.

If they don't talk about the post-op diet, I would ask about that.

For the surgeon, I have a list of questions that I try to get the info from for any surgeon I am considering. A lot of it, you can get from their web sites and the seminar, but then I send the rest via email and at the surgical consult, you can ask anything that you still don't have a satisifactory answer to.

Here's a copy:

 %20Checklist.doc

I'm working on an article and I've beefed it up to include questions for all the different surgeries and whether you have insurance or not. Just cut out the parts that don't apply.

i think macmadame's checklist is quite thorough & would take with me.

one other thing i would question is the fill schedule. how often you can get them, etc. i've read many have to wait several wks/months in order to either get a fill or get an appt because the practice is so busy. it's pretty important, while your working up towards getting proper restriction that you have great flexibility with your dr's practice to get in for your fills in a reasonable time frame.

good luck to you.

Hi:

I would ask the surgeon where he places the port, and why he choses that spot. I have my port in a comfortable place and wouldn't want it to be near my waist. Mine is just below the breast bone - about an inch down. Nothing seems to hit it and it's nice and flat there now that I'm down to 186 pounds.

Good luck. I hope you love your band like I love mine!

Sue

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
