have you looked at Welcome to the Weight Loss Surgery Group web site ? Uk price is a little less than some of the other london clinics and overseas price much less but includes aftercare here.......see what you think. I have read positive feedback about them. Sorry you are not having any luck with SS :(

Hello there, I wish I had been here earlier, but due to a few hic ups havent been on site.

Can I say first hope u dont think i am blowing my own tune, but i due feel as if I now have an oligy in wls because of what i have been through!

Anyway, I really dont think u will get a band in the uk for 5 grand. I can recomed a very good package in somerset for approx 7500. Sounds alot but its a two year deal, all the fills un fills and appointments u want. U coud go every week if u want!!!!!!!!

Shaw Summers has an excellent reputaint but hes not cheep.

Good luck

I'm booked in with Why Go Abroad for £5,000....but obviously some people haven't had much look after the op with them, but for me the cost is the main factor.

thankyou for your info but i would rather stay in this country then go abroad,i had a bad experiance in belgium, i had cosmetic surgery and it was awful, i didnt agree with what i saw, and waking up out of anesetic towards the end of my operation, i walked myself out the door 15 mins after the operation, the receptionist's couldnt believe i was up and walking....... ive worked in hospitals.

i understand everyones situ is different.

"Why Go Abroad" is in Birmingham, you have to op at Dolan Park in Bromsgrove, they are part of the Hospital Group but £3,000 cheaper as they only provide 28 days aftercare and you have to pay for the fills. My surgeon is Audun Siggurdson and he was the head surgeon on the ITV program "supersize surgery" that was filmed at Dolan Park, you can watch the series on The Hospital group website, I felt alot happier aftyer that, and he was great at the consultation, as long as the op goes fine I can deal with the "not so reliable" staff afterwards.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
