being banded July 25th

Recommended Posts

I was going to wait to join until after I was banded but I thought hey.. why not join the fun now! I am nervous about the upcoming surgery and I have all the normal concerns.. Also the life change seems so drastic.. I have been reading a lot and some bandsters have scared the crud out of me.. But I guess in the end I would like to know is is worth it? does your weightloss and ability to do new things out weigh the troubles?

I am looking forward to being more active and keeping up with my husband and 9 month old! Or maybe I can even beat him in a race!

Welcome New2me!

If I had to redo this surgery 10 times again I would. The band is such a blessing... Once you're at that sweet spot food isn't a part of your life like it was before. I rarely ever even feel a hunger pain so I never have to say I am starving! I get full on 1/2 a cup and I have 100 times more energy.

You will have a whole new outlook and you will be passing them in races in no time I promise

I went from the couch to 13 miles a day on a bike and or a 3mile jog/walk.

You can do it  Good luck with your surgery.

P.S. I joined the forums 7 months before my surgery lol

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
