salinasmaya 0 Posted July 8, 2008 Hello All- I am new to the forum, and I am in the early stages of seeking WLS. I was curious at to what insurance companies look for in the five year record. Are they looking for a long history of weight issues in general, or are they looking for a history of having the 40 BMI? Thanks.
betrthnever 107 Posted July 8, 2008 I think they're just looking for a history of your weight. All I did was have to supply a sheet from the Dr (and it can be any dr you have had) with a weight and a date on it. I think the want to make sure you're been overwieght or had a problem with weight for some time and that you didn't just gain 100 pounds (???) Yeah, right! MicheleK 8 Posted July 8, 2008 If Aetna is your carrier, they no longer require 5 years weight history. Just throwing that out there in case - I hope I made your day! LOL
coolcrystal 1 Posted July 8, 2008 Mine just wanted the doctor to send them the information stating that yes I had at least 40 BMI for the last 5 years, but one of the years I was like 38 BMI and they didnt' care.
