Miserable still

Recommended Posts

I had surgery Friday night in Mexico. Right out of surgery I was in so much back pain they gave me something for that. Saturday I am not progressing like I should. I was not passing gas. Still in lots of pain but in my front not in my back anymore. I am still coughing up phlem (sp?) that looks like there is blood in it. Told them this in Mexico and they said it wasn't. Woke up early this morning still not hardly passing any gas even with Mylanta Gas. I am miserable hard to breathe and plus I have no restriction. I was given antibiotics but was not told on how to use them and since they are in Spanish threw them away. My 5 insicions look good. They did a test in Mexico which I drank barium and said there was no leaks. Has any one else had these problems? :)

Hmmm, if possible I would go see a doctor quickly. I'm concerned you're not using the antibiotics, it's important with any surgery. If you are having issues breathing I would get to a doctor...or at least call your surgery center in Mexico and find out what to do. Make someone give you some answers.

the coughing sounds dangerous, i would get to a doctor or hospital as soon as possible. that sort of thing following any surgery could be serious. also, i would call the surgery center and find out what sort of antibiotics you're supposed to be taking and how many etc and get a replacement prescription. hospitals (all hospitals on both sides of the border) are full of bacteria and those are often preventative antibiotics to keep you from getting a nosocomial (hospital-related) infection.

Hope you have already contacted the doctor. I´ve read a lot here and it seems that walking helps with the gas. Are you able to move around alright? If yes, try do some walking to help get rid of the gas.

Get better soon, your new journey is waiting for you.

Could it be from red Jello the night before that is in my mucas? I will be moving up my doctor appt. for follow up if they will see me. Today I am better. This is just harder than I thought. This board has helped me in so many ways already. Found out a few things that I was doing wrong. Thanks for all your well wishes!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
