Hi - I just stumbled on this after poking around. I'm in Minneapolis MN and getting banded in 8 days at Park Nicollet Methodist Hospital (who I am really happy with).

I have to say, that it seems like it might be hard to keep up with all the different little areas. I have been all over the Pre-op surgery board, because that is what applied to me. But today is the first time I really poked around enough to find the military spouses group and the MN group. But I would imagine that trying to keep up three or four different groups becomes time consuming and then you stick to the main pages.... But I'll try to stay with this MN one if anyone else is willing!!!

Hey! Nice to meet you! I got mine at Methodist too with Tom Jones. LOVED IT! It's my 2 month anniv...I'm down 43lbs. The clinic is fantastic. I'd advise going to their lapband support group... and all the others. Also stop by Obesity Help. Lots of good people on the MN forum... though few of us banders... but the people are super nice and we all get together a lot.

Hey! Don't be too down...some people seem to lose slower in the beginning and hit the top at the sweet spot. I just started exercising, so that's not a big factor yet. I pack my food in a lunchbox every day and eat a cup every meal except for dinner - that's more like 2 cups. I drink a lot of Water and just try to keep my mind off food. I also try to ride the plateaus and understand that they are part of the 'game.' :-)

Thanks for the support. I went to dr today and had lost 2.2, so that is a total of 9.7. He gave me another fill, so i have about 4cc now. I hope this gives me some restriction.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
