Cerrin 3 Posted July 8, 2008 One week ago...I would say no. They say no physical activitiy for like 6 weeks. walking is the only thing approved for the first 6 weeks. OF Course we all know you are going to do what you want to do. BUT your insides were recently cut and stitched and moved arround a little. Is Sex today worth a possible complication? YOU JUST HAD SURGERY! Give your body a minute to heal.
Ninja 0 Posted July 8, 2008 This, like everything else about being banded, varies by doctor and by individual. My surgeon cleared me to work out after two weeks. I think we waited that long before resuming sex, but it wasn't any longer than that. Do your discharge papers give a timeframe for physical activity? If not, I think you have to go by how you feel and take it very, very slowly and be very, very careful at first. You know how well you're healing and how much your body can handle. Your port site, especially, might be very sore, so you'll probably want to avoid any pressure on it (like, say, from the missionary position). Happy birthday! I'd say this is a perfect opportunity for your man to spend a loooooong, sloooooow time pampering you and making you feel good. Test things out, then see where it goes. Have fun! kathystrick 3 Posted July 8, 2008 I waited about 2 weeks too, but no time frame was specifically given by my doctor. I have read on these threads where people have done it a lot sooner than that. There was even someone who did it the day after! I would definitely go by my doctor's orders though, if he addressed it. If not, play it by ear and see how you feel. There are ways to have sex without it putting too much stress on the abdominal area.

Carrie_C 9 Posted July 9, 2008 I say if you feel like doing it, go for it! I think 6 weeks is stretching it a bit. My husband would have died if he had to wait 6 weeks!
greythope 0 Posted July 9, 2008 I have heard about women doing the day after childbirth... could be worse! DH and I did boy on top and I felt very sore in the gut afterwards and it was three weeks after my surgery. So I am amazed you even feel like it one week afterwards. Since it's your birthday I'd say make him give YOU some special attention and skip the actual sex part!
gdf18 2 Posted July 9, 2008 Mine also said 6 weeks and gave us the go ahead when I had my first fill. What the surgeon didn't tell me was that that the go ahead meant the band was now safely healed in place and I couldn't hurt it having sex. HOWEVER, sex was very uncomfortable bordering on painful. Further investigation told me that although the band can take it at 6 weeks, the abdominal tissue may take months to really heal and form scar tissue to protect the port so sex can hurt. An interested husband can make all the difference because other positions than missionary help to make the difference. And with some experimentation I've also learned that sex is far more comfortable when my stomach is empty- which makes sense. So, it's morning sex for now and still no pushing on the spot. So use the morning light, but wait 6 weeks to ensure a healthly healing.
HeatherO 7 Posted July 11, 2008 My doctor said you can start again as soon as you feel up to it as long as you are gentle with yourself. I waited 1.5 weeks.

gdf18 2 Posted July 14, 2008 I'm telling you ladies.....morning sex. No pain at all. An empty stomach does help. Also so does almost 50 pounds! He can actually stay just above me now without my belly pushing against him. YAY

I told my husband it was prolly 6 weeks since you can get back to "normal activities" then (haven't even scheduled it yet), and he about died! lol I will let him know the "good news" that you all say 2 weeks of "gentleness". lol:thumbup::wink2:
