Surgery on the 15th

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone, just wanted to see if everyone else was as nervous as me. I'm getting banded on the 15th, just about a week from now and i'm getting really anxious for this. At times I wonder if I can do this, and when i'm eating i'm thinking should I be eating this, or i'm just plain confused about what I should be eating and calories and Protein and what not.... ugh....Did anyone else or is anyone else feel like this???

I certainly was! I got banded on the 27th of June which was a week last Friday. I was so nervous I was making a mistake etc. I am glad it is done now and you will be as well. I already feel better. I go to the Doctor on the 10th ad I think I have lost around 10lbs. I know it will get harder but I can do it and so can you. I have not been hungry but a couple of times!

Hey, srfrmom. I'm being banded on the 15th also! I'm 3 days into my doctors prescribed liquid diet. And it's pretty horrible. The hunger headaches are the worst. I feel like I'm constantly in the washroom from all the Water I'm drinking. My surgeon makes us do a clear liquid only diet one day before the surgery and thats my last day of work before my banding. I'm super nervous about working that day (I have a physical job) only on Clear Liquids. I'm not sure how I'm going to pull thru! I refuse to cheat, or blow it. This sure is a big test of will power for me.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
