Surgery on July 9th

Recommended Posts

I will be the first patient on 7-9-08. I'm getting everything ready to go today. I have to drive about 1 hr away, so am staying in a hotel with my friend. Great friend, she's an lpn and will be with me. We will stay at the hotel the 9th and then back to the hospital on the 10th for my swallowing study. Then it's back to home. My husband will be flying in from LA on the 10th for a few days to be with me. So many adjectives to pick from: excited, nervous, scared, happy, ready to start a new looking me. Wish me luck and I wish everyone else luck on their own journey.:tt1:

Congrats to you! You will go through lots of different emotions before you hit the surgery room. It is only normal to do this. Good luck and remember to post when you can and let us know how things went for you.

I just read this, so am hoping that you are home and doing well. Everyone is different post surgery, some have port area pain, others their shoulder. Just remember to walk, walk, walk, it really helps. And, don't think you are a whimp if you need pain meds, that is why they prescribe them. Good luck it is a terrific tool and you will be losing right along with the rest of us!

Hi, wow, you have done so great!!! Congratulations! I am 56, not banded yet, still finishing up my 6 months with the dr. watching me. Listen, You look great so I need to know. I have chins and jowls and I asked my daughter what would happen to my face when I lose. She said my face will fall and I almost had a heart attack, maybe I should stay fat but NOT! Yours is nice, did you have chins too? Please help me.

Oh yes, not sure of the count, but there were chins! That was something I wondered about prior to surgery. I attended a couple of support groups and noticed several women around my age that had the surgery and lost over 100lbs and they looked great, no sagging. But, I have to tell you that I would take the sagging if I had to over how terrific I feel and the energy I have. It is the best thing I have ever done for myself! Good luck.

Ohhhhh, thank you so much! I don't want more hanging, ha! Some say Protein , I have heard milk will keep it from getting loose, not sure how true it is. But thanks so much!

Hey feel the same way....friend. You will see my chins go and my sagging if it happens. Right now I am down to two chins, I lost one already LOL. I feel really good now after two weeks since banding. See you soon.

Take care

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
