MrsKaren 0 Posted July 7, 2008  Hiya everyone! My name is Karen and I am 28 w/ 3 kiddos. I am just starting out my journey to get Banded! I see my doctor on Tuesday for my initial consult. I just started the 6month diet plan for my insurance...so looking to get banded at the beginning of 2009! I have been overweight ALL my life and struggling with the yo-yo dieting forever it seems now. I am very excited about getting Banded and think it is the right choice for me (even though my friends think its the "easy" way out). I have heard nothing but negative things about getting the Lap Band from my friends. My husband is all for whatever makes me happy and I AM happy I am taking control of my life and getting the help I need! Congrats to all who have got Banded and did so wonderfully (I have been on here reading for a while now  ) and Good Luck to the newly banded and future bandsters!! I look forward to talking to everyone!

beth1327 0 Posted July 7, 2008 Hi. I am considering doing the lap procedure and have no idea where to start to find a dr that does the procedure. Where did you begin your research?
debbles 0 Posted July 7, 2008 There is no such thing as an easy way out. Surgery is never easy and you well know it. Ignore those false friends and anyone who does not support you. Dieting is always easy when you have no weight to lose. You will always struggle and anyone who is not behind you is not worthy of your time and affection. God bless your husband. Froggi 4 Posted July 7, 2008 welcome to LBT. I too am under a 6 month diet I am in month 3. It's so worth it though, I've already lost 13 lbs!
j_holm07 0 Posted July 7, 2008 I STRONGLY agree with Debbles. This is not just some easy way out. Tell people that the band is only a tool...and you need to do a lot of work you utilize that tool. Exercise, VERY special dieting, pain, all that stuff goes with it, so if they think it is an easy way out, just let them think it cause we all know differently! Good luck on your journey! Josh ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Band Date: July 9th, 2008 Insurance: Medica Heaviest Weight: 315.5 Current Weight: 299 lbs. Goal Weight: 190 lbs. Freedom is only a word until it is upheld by the roots of its meaning….. GOOD LUCK TO ALL THE JULY BANDSTERS!!
irkydirk2 0 Posted July 7, 2008 Hi, Not even sure how to use all this chat stuff, haven't looked at something like this in years. I'm being banded tomorrow also. Are you nervous at all? What does your doc tell you for 1st week diet? Good luck and hope all goes well. irkydirk2
