I had the lap band surgery in Dec. in Mexico. I have done great so far but now I need a fill and I can't find a Dr. to do it. I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem or knew of a doctor in texas that would do the fill?:confused2:

Hi!

It might help if you list the cities you are willing to travel to. I know others have talked about doctors in Texas who will take patients from Mexico but I couldn't tell you who they were or where.

Might want to search some of the threads to see what pops up. Check the insurance and doctor/hospital threads too and see if there is something there.

Best wishes to you. Take care!

Hi, I too was searching for a Dr. to do my fills after my Lap Band surgery (on 7/24/08 in Mexico) in my home state (RI). I kept reading how difficult it would be to find 1 willing to do fills for me. I looked on Fillcentersusa.com's website, but the closest fill center to me was at least 2 hours away! I figured that I would just give a (reputable) Bariatric surgeon in RI a call and ask if he would do my fills for me after having surgery in mexico. The worst they could do would be to say no; however the answer, to my surprise was yes! Without insurance it will cost me $65 for the Dr. visit and $100 for the fill (w/o Fluoro), which is actually cheaper than going to the Fill Center. I'm aware that rules vary from state to state, but give it a try in your area. Good Luck!!!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
