How do eat enough?

I'm scheduled for surgery on May 25, which is exciting!!! My doctor had me go on a high Protein, low carb diet two weeks before, which I've been on since Tuesday.

I've been journaling my food on fitday.com, and I'm finding that I'm having a tough time getting to 1100 calories a day. I know that others, as well as my doctor have said that we need to have 1200-1500 calories per day.

How do you get in 1200 calories when you have restriction?

I answered this on the other message board you posted it on, but thought it would be good for others to see.

I now have good restriction again (I had it with just the band for a while, but lost it as I lost weight/swelling went down). I have 2-3 ounces of meat (around 200 calories for that much meat including the marinades or sauces I put on it) and veggies for lunch and dinner. lunch might be a Lean Cuisine or something, which I'll eat most of (depending on what it is), and those are around 300 calories.

So...

I have Breakfast (usually slices of ham too or 1 egg) -- that's 200 calories (or more).

Lunch - Lean Cuisine - 300 calories

dinner - 300 calories

That's 800 right there. My Snacks I do make a little higher calorie count -- try to get 400 calories in there or use more marinade - loving barbeque sauce. I usually do have dessert at night when watching TV. I'll have one of those individual cups of ice cream - that's another 100 calories.

If I have salad for dinner, which I LOVE, I usually have feta cheese which will add calories and also don't forget the Salad Dressing. I haven't found a low-cal one that I like, so I usually have 1-2 servings of regular salad dressing.

It all adds up -- you'd be surprised at how fast it does.

My nutritionist told me not to count calories in the beginning, just to make sure and get enough protien. For me it was 70gms of protien and still is.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
