Got a date for July 21st

Recommended Posts

I got my band date. It is set for July 21st. I have to start me pre-op Protein on the 11th. I am looking for ideas on some tolerable Protein Shakes or mixes. I never could stand the taste when I had to drink them on the Metabolic high protein diet. I think I am more nervous about this pre-op prepration than the surgery itself! Any suggestions? Also, I want to make sure I understand.....are we not supposed to eat any solid foods? Thanks! This is my first time to ever ask post.:)

Hi there, one of the best Protein powders on the market is Optimum Nutrition 100% whey Gold Standard. I absolutely love the strawberry Milkshake, vanilla Ice Cream, and Rich Double chocolate flavors. The great thing about this particular brand of Protein Powder is that is has been voted #1 for the past seven years...just mix one scoop with six ounces of skim milk into a shaker and you're ready to go. You can purchase it at any GNC store or online, but the cheapest place is to buy it is at VitaCost.com:

I'm scheduled for July 18th, and have been using Designer Whey low carb protien. The label says it's good (duh), but beleive me, it tastes like bad well Water when mixed. It's one of the cheapest options and readily available at GNC. If you are on a budget for the next 2 weeks, it's not as bad as most I've tried. I'll report back tomorrow on whether or not this Crystal Light I found improves it.

For the few weeks you'll be solely consuming Protein, consider splurging on the high-dollar stuff. I'm tired of this after 2 days.

EDIT

I mixed a packet of crystal light made for 1 quart into 1 cup of shake. It made it edible.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
