Need help with this fill!!!

Recommended Posts

Okay guys I've been trying to figure out this crazy fill and I'm not getting anywhere by myself..... I need some help!

I got a fill 3 weeks ago..I felt I could tell a difference immediatly.I even had a couple episodes with the stuck feeling at first. Then I felt like I was being able to eat more as each day went by with out getting the stuck feeling. like maybe the first restriction was from swelling after the fill or something. Now WAME!!!! everything I've eaten yesterday and today has gotten stuck... Even very soft potatoes cooked in the crock pot with a roast!!! I'm not sure what is going on its like 3 weeks from the time I got my fill and it kicked in or something. Could a fill take this long to kick in??? Any suggestions?

Jamie, yes it is very possible for a fill to kick in weeks later, there have even been people here on this board who had a fill and months had gone by and their fills got tighter. My first fill took a week or so to notice a difference. Are you close to your monthly cycle because that can sometimes make you tighter, atleast for me it does.

have you had a PB? If so this could be why you may be having things get stuck, swelling does occur after a PB and this is why some doctors like mine want 24 hours of liquids after a PB so it does not become a vicious cycle.

YES! Jamie, this is absolutely possible. I am the exact same way - more restriction weeks later instead of right after a fill. No problems though?

Just take it slow and remember all those "rules" - small bites and chew well.

The restriction may have kicked in. Alot of people swear that they don't feel their fill until 2 weeks after it. I haven't ever experienced this and I personally can't figure out the "science" behind it, but so many people have said it, that I just got to believe it to be true.

Your band can get tighter because of stress. I had this happen when I had to go to St. Louis for a few days. The trip wasn't stressful, but I never felt that I had enough time to eat.

Many people notice that their bands get tighter during their period -- well, right before it and when it first starts. My theory, you ask? Alot of women retain Water before their period (thus the weight gain)...I think that affects the band too. Causes things ALL OVER to swell.

Also, when you have a PB, you should back off a little bit. If your first PB was bad enough, your stomach might have been irritated because of the PB making you even tighter than you were before. This is very common -- alot of surgeons recommend going back to liquids for 12-24 hours after a PB because of this.

SO....in my opinion, go back to liquids for 24 hours. Then start solids again, but VERY SLOWLY. Cut what you think is a bite, then cut it in 1/2. Chew that 20 times. Then swallow. See if that helps.

I agree, then if you still have problems, maybe you need to have a tiny bit unfilled.

My cycle isn't for another 2 weeks. So I don't think thats it yet! But good point I guess you could have some Fluid retition and swelling so that makes since that you could have more restriction around that time.

Also I did Pb late yesterday after noon but saturday I was getting the stuck feeling and that was before I had the pb??? So I'm confused on that one. I've had a Protein drink this morning so maybe it will settle me down today! I'll try just the liquids and see if that helps!.

The good thing is I weighed this morning and I've lost 2 more pounds for a total of 21 down since surgery and 34 total!!! I'm so excited Now if I can get this fill figured out I'll be doing good!! Thanks for the suggestions!!

Thanks to J. Lynn and you too Betty! I'll do liquids today and see if that helps. Also will be extra careful to chew well Thanks for the help!!!
