Hi Everyone!

I had surgery on July 2nd and am doing wonderful. My only concern is the incision where my port was placed. All the other incisions look happy and are healing nicely. This one looks a little angrier than the rest. There is no drainage, I don't have a fever, and the incision is still closed up. But around the incision is red. Did anybody else have a port incision that looked a little angrier than the rest of their incisions?

I am going for my post op check up on Wednesday. And, I live two and a half hours from my surgeon. So, just popping into the hospital for a look see is hard. I am going to show it to my surgeon on Wednesday.....just wondering if anyone has had a similar experience.

Your port incision is sounding alot like mine. I found that incision took longer to heal than the others. Call your physician and see what he/she recommends. In my case, a little triple antibiotic ointment did the trick and cleared up the redness. But, again be sure and speak with your physician before initiating any treatment. Take care

My port incision was also the worst one of all...it took a lot longer than the others to look "happy"

I was told to "keep an eye on it esp if it starts draining or if you develop any fever"... I actually had one of my incisions open up (it was initially one of the happy ones) and I was all stressed about it and my doc said its ok...it'll heal up and it did but its the widest ugliest scar out of all of them...........good luck to you

I was banded last Thursday (7/3), and my port incision is a bit red, too. I was surprised that I didn't get any staples or sutures; instead, my doctor used some kind of medical "super glue." It looks like it is going to work, but I'm keeping an eye on it.

Banded 7/3 too. Port incision is angry red and warm to hot to the touch. Other incisions are not. I'm not worried, this incision had the port pass through it and it is the one that is getting the pressure on it when I cough or get up.

Hi everyone,

I was banded on June 30th and my port incision is looking just about what all of you have described. I thought maybe it was due to increased blood flow to that area after I put a heating pad on my stomach for comfort, but I am guess now this is normal.

I have dermabond on my incision and they are really starting to itch. I had a little drop of clear drainage from the port incision yesterday, but no fever or foul odor from the site, so not guessing infection just yet. It is a little warmer to touch than the others but no real pain. Feels kind of different though when I touch the surrounding area. Almost like touching something rubbery instead of touching my skin, but I am starting to get more sensation around that site.

I have my follow-up appt on Wednesday and will be sure to mention this to my surgeon.

Good luck to everyone.

Sincerely,

Stephanie
