Hello, all! Was banded last Monday and so excited to start losing. Couple questions. Has anyone heard of the powder you can add to Water called, "Emergen C". It's a Vitamin C drink. Just wondered if this would be okay to have. It's a little fizzy, but not carbonated.

Also, my doctor's office said it was okay to start creamy Soups after one week, but a lot of what I'm reading says to wait for two weeks. Thoughts about this? Thanks in advance for your responses.

Toliveagain,

I have never heard of the "emergen C" drink so I cannot comment on that. I was banded on July 2 and did not have anything to eat that day, but had only Clear Liquids for my first meal (day 2), and then after that my doctor said I can have creamy Soups, yogurt, pudding, cottage cheese and protien drinks. I have to do this diet for 2 weeks and than I can advance from there after I see my doctor for the 2 week check up. I guess all doctors are different. I am doing fine on what I am eating now. No problems.

i use Emergen C in the winter... one thing about it though, it is "fizzy" like pop .... you add the powder to Water or juice and it taste okay, it is also loaded with B Vitamins and other things as well as C However like i said, the fizzy part might not be so good.

I used to use Emergen-C also, and loved it.

I wouldn't recommend messing with anything fizzy at all.

My wife found Ultra Mega Nutrition Formula at GNC.< /p>

They have formulas for men and women, and it gives you the Multivitamin and the Emergen-C stuff, and lots of everything else in a chocolate-flavored drink!

Thanks for your reply. So you were able to eat creamy items a couple of days after surgery? Interesting how different the doctors are, huh? I've been on 7 straight days of clear fluids, broth, juice, Water, etc. and I'm really ready to have something more substantial...my energy level is really low, which is unusual. Thanks again for your response.

My doctor has me on a week of clear liquids, then a week of full liquids, then a week of mushies, then a week of soft foods...

I'm not sure I can make the week of clears...

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
