roxyrip2002 0 Posted August 13, 2008 Hey mrswal well I did it, I had the surgery last friday and already have lost 5kg, I know it's probably all Fluid but hey it still looks good on the scales. The day after the surgery I felt like sh*t, I can't lie to you, you have a really bad feeling of reflux and obviously youv'e just been through surgury so your not feeling the best but each day get's better and now on day 6 I am feeling pretty good, it's still hurts abit but as long as that reflux feeling is gone you can cope, they give your really good pain killers in hospital anyway to cope with it. When you get home buy some Mylanta from the chemist and that will help as well. All I can say to you is go for it you may regret it the day after but then each day get's better and you realise that it's the best decision you could have made for yourself. I wish you all the best and keep in touch I'd love to know how you go. Dr Watson is great as well he is one of the nicest doctors I have met in a long time and every story I have heard about him has been a good one. Good luck
lellow 1,713 Posted August 13, 2008 Roxy, I'm almost 2 weeks out from surgery and except for not being able to eat as much as before, wouldn't even know I've had surgery. I have no more pain at all. In fact yesterday I went for a 45 minute bike ride - something I didn't think I would be able to do so soon after surgery. I do think this is in part a testiment to Dr Watson's skill. I am very happy to have gone to him. :whatchutalkingabout

roxyrip2002 0 Posted August 15, 2008 Hey everyone, well I am on day 7 and still can't bend over, it took me about 20 minutes to put my boots on this morning. I don't know if something is wrong or if this is normal. I can do general stuff but I can't bend and have abit of pain. I read about all these people who went back to work 1 or 2 day's later and am thinking now am I just a woose or shall I ring Dr Watson.
appspaul 0 Posted August 16, 2008 Hi ROXY , I WENT BACK TO WORK AFTER A WEEK , BUT STILL WAS A BIT TENDER . HOWEVER I WOULD GET CHECKED OUT IF I WERE YOU JUST TO MAKE SURE ALL IS OK
lellow 1,713 Posted August 16, 2008 Oh yeah I was tender for about two weeks. Even now, when I can't feel my port site or any of the incisions, sometimes I bend at the waist and get a pinch. Take it easier and don't rush it. As long as your port site doesn't get MORE painful (which may signal an infection), it'll get slightly better with each passing day. roxyrip2002 0 Posted August 16, 2008 Thanks for the reassurance, I did the shopping today and it was really hard pushing a shopping trolley fully of food around and load it in the car, I can't wait to feel normal again. Just out of curiousity is the port site the large incision in the middle or the slightly smaller one next to it?
lellow 1,713 Posted August 18, 2008 my port site is the largest incision of the lot. About 6cm big? I can feel the hardness of the port about an inch below it.
mrswal 0 Posted August 18, 2008 Okay, I need to ask some dumb questions... How long after the op can you get back to 'normal' husband/wife relations? If you wear jeans (or other non-elasticated) bottoms, do they push on the port? Can you feel the band or the port all day every day, or only the port and only if you're looking for it? I'm afraid I'm going to lean over a counter and snap the port or something! LOL Lellow .. way to go with the weight loss! 9kg already and only a couple of weeks.
