Dee79 0 Posted July 5, 2008 Hi All, I'm Dee, 29 from CT. I've battled my weight my entire life. For the past year or two I've maintained 320. Not going up but not going down either. We've been Trying to have a baby for over 3 years now and I decided to have a whole load of testing done. Everything came back perfect. So.. I've set a new goal. I want to lose weight be successful and keep it off! I've considered Lap Band several years ago.. But my insurance didn't cover it at the time. I was thinking about it again since the weight still hasn't dropped off and I had a few questions. Just to add, My new insurance covers it 100%. SO I'm rethinking about it. Please tell me the pro's and cons. I see that I could qualify for the laproscopy surgery which I would do, never the other surgery though where they cut your stomach open. :tt2: (Google images.. great thing btw) Those who had it. What was your recovery time..? How did they release/tighten the band? If I go through this. What should I be prepared for? Hope to hear soon! Dee
GayleTX 1 Posted July 5, 2008 You need to google and watch video's of the surgery and get more info on the aftercare and lifestyle afterward. You might start at www.obesityhelp.com and click on lapband section for information. Word of encouragement.....I was at a meeting this past weekend with some other bandits....one of the girls there was probablya bout 40 - she had been trying to have a baby for 10 years. she was banded at 400 pounds a couple of years ago - she got pregnant after losing about 150 lbs - she's due in october and looks and feels wonderful.
