hikerchik 0 Posted July 4, 2008 Hi, I am new to this forum. I will be done with my 6 months worth of doctor visits for weight loss at the end of July (Insurance requires this before they will think about aproving the surgery) Any way , I like to enjoy a few beers here and there and I have heard that I should go cold turkey and not drink at all for 2 months before the surgery. Is this true? Do some surgeons require this while others do not? Any input would be appreciated. Thanks!
hikerchik 0 Posted July 5, 2008 Hey Jack, Im very glad that you havnt drank in such a long time. That is really great. Im sure you are really loving life now. My question is: Did your surgeon allow you to drink your beer right up to the day before surgery? Thanks, Sue:shades_smile:
HarleyGirl 1 Posted July 5, 2008 I had my last beer two weeks before surgery. I did have a one week liquid diet before surgery. Now that it's hot, I miss a cold beer.......but I am loving the way I look and feel, so it's sooooooo totally worth it!
mstrina27 0 Posted July 5, 2008 You know drinking beer to u is prob. like soda pop was for me... at first i couldn't ever imagine not drinking pop, but i haven't had it since 2-weeks before banding which was the beg. of may and i haven't had a sip, or even a thought of drinking it and i'm cool.... U just have to have a made up mind to want to change bad behavior whatever that may be.... But one thing i do know is, is that beer and other liquor's add weight to u... i has a lot of carbs in it, and it will make it harder to loose weight... that is one bad factor but ultimately u have to make the choice for u...
