AshleyBlue 0 Posted July 4, 2008 Not sure if anyone else has had this problem. I am in the process of trying to get approved my BMI is where is needs to be but if I lose a pound it won't be. Problem is that even though I have struggled with my weight all my life, six months ago I gave birth to a wonderful baby boy. He is one of the best things in my life but not so wonderful on my body. I have a bad back and he's not getting any lighter either. I lost weight after he was born but gained it all and then some after I went back to work. I have Tricare and they don't care that my back gives out and I fall and it's difficult to take care of a child under those conditions. I have been sent for PT twice now, not helping but anyway has anyone gotten approval from tricare for the surgery and if so HOW!! I am desperate.
rondidq2 0 Posted July 4, 2008 Sorry to hear you are having trouble getting approved. I was approved the same day they recieved it. I am 55 yrs have hypertension and high cholesterol, and trouble with my joints. I am 5'6" and weigh 240 lbs. I did all my pre req's like getting my psyc eval, all my hospital tests, barium swallow, dietitcian, letters from my docs, including the cardiologist, and all my docs notes in regards to my weight. I also had to give them a complete list of all diets I had been on my entire life and results. It took about 6 weeks from the first time i went to my surgeons seminar. Tri Care, which I am in the west so it is TriWest approved it right away. My surg date is July 9. Good luck to you and if I can help you in any way, give me a shout.
