I totally understand how you feel. I have so much back flab that I get so disgusted looking at it in the mirror. I don't even know what kind of work that can be done about back flab. I have it on my stomach as well but for some reason my back grosses me out. I am going to a Water park today and I put on my new bathing suit. I'm okay with the view from the front. My flab hangs over the top of the back of the suit. I am so disgusted. I just don't know what to do. I fear it will only get worse as the weigh come off. Wishing you all the best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am just getting started--Banded on June 23rd and that is a big conern of mine. What helps?? exercising? Special Lotions??? Is there something out there to help?? I know it depends on the person and their skin type and all that but I want to be proactive about it. I am not sure what the timeline for a future procedures would be either. Sorry I am no help--but you are not alone with your concerns. Good Luck!

I was just looking at my legs this morning.

It wasn't pretty. Skin is sagging all over. But, given the other results -weight loss and a new pride - its minor. Yah, don't know what it will look like when I lose more weight.

I do know I won't be doing the plastic surgery.

Just too much money.

I know what you mean. I feel like I look great in clothes now. I really dont even look that heavy anymore, just common in size for my age. Off with the clothes and I am really dissapointed in my lower stomach and upper thighs. They are not terrible, but they definitely are not normal.

However, as a saving grace I have a pretty good swimsuit that conceals my flaws pretty well so I am lucky . . . except I can't find one that conceals that my skin is as white as new fallen snow and won't tan at all :0).

On a side note, I saw a friend on Wednesday that showed me you can find swimsuits that conceal absolutlely everything. They are swimsuits for muslim women and the only items exposed are the front of your face and your feet. I thought they were kind of interesting but I had to laugh at the name. They are called burkinis (a mix of burka which is a middle eastern dress that covers a women completely and even veils the eyes and our traditional bikini). Talk about comparing apples and oranges and then mixing them altogether.

When i went to my seminar, the doctor said that nobody would touch your skin till 12-18 months after weight loss because it may form around your new body.

not banded yet just starting.

I too have a hanging belly. It seems to be going more down hill as I loose more weight. Also the tops of my boobs. Or maybe that was because my belly was holding them up!

We like to go out to the river in AZ and take our boat there. I got myself a Carol Weir suit doing an internet search. Even my inner thighs look extra flabby now. I will wear a pair of underwear shorts under my swim dress style swimsuit, so that when I get in and out of the boat no one has to see that! I know Ill need a Tummy Tuck. I am debaiting on the boobs lifted and inner thighs done too. I dont think there is much else to do for the stretched out hanging skin.

Hi -

I'm a new poster to this forum. I just got banded last week.

I was reading up on saggy skin and I found this interesting website that basically says that surgery is not necessary to get rid of it. The sagging skin is from excess body fat and loss of muscle mass. I was wondering what others thought. Have those of you who have sagging skin been doing weight training or exercising since you got your band? :biggrin2:

Here is the website:

The Myth of Loose Skin

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
