Lenny D 0 Posted September 20, 2003 I'm scheduled for surgery on 9/30/03. I have a question about the liquid diet phase of the post-op period. My work requires that I travel to customers offices, so I'll have to brown bag my lunches on workdays. What do I bring. My docter suggests Carnation Instant Breakfast, but I can't start mixing shakes while I'm on the road. What about Slim Fast cans? They seem to be convenient to travel with. Suggestions appreciated. tosha 0 Posted September 20, 2003 My surgery date is Oct. 2 and this is what I'm going to do, I have a small cooler that I can fill with ice and I'm going to put my juice, slim fast, and all of my liguid that need to stay cool in there and put it in the back seat of my car. I travel a good ways to get to work and the cooler is small enough that I can bring it in when I get there and put under my desk. Campbells also make the Soup at hand and they are pretty good so I'm stocked up on those. The Carnation instant Breakfast also comes pre-made so maybe you can find some of those too. You can also get the sugar free Jello and put in the cooler. I have to do the liquid diet one week before surgery so I have been trying to come up with all kinds of ideas. Good luck to ya! tosha
Alexandra 55 Posted September 21, 2003 When I was doing full liquids, Soup was my survival food. If you're traveling around can you stop to get some at lunchtime? Cream Soups and bisques were the best and really filling. And there are loads of stores nowadays who sell really good soup to go. (I have some great recommendations if you're going to be in Summit!) BandAid 3 Posted September 23, 2003 Avoid Slimfast. You'll be much better off with other Protein Shakes such as Atkins, EAS, or Carb Solutions. They all make ready to drink shakes.< /p>
Mary Beth 0 Posted October 3, 2003 Don't even start thinking Slim Fast...Too much SUGAR ... instead if you need the convience of a pre made drink there are much better choices. Best of luck,MB
