clifton81 1 Posted July 3, 2008 I had my band tightened about 1 month and a 1/2. I was so proud that i didn't throw up before but now I think it's too tight. I have thrown up about 5 times now since and this week I cant get anything to go down without having serious pain and constant burps. Is my band slipping? I am so scared. I hope everything is okay. I am scared because now I chew things extra slow and make sure it's mushed before I swallow and still it hurts. Does anyone have the same Problem?
prissypotz 0 Posted July 4, 2008 I'm so sorry you are experiencing this. Unfortunately, I have experienced this myself-not once but twice. First, have you called your doctor? If not, you need to do this; however, with it being a holiday weekend, you might need to go to the ER. It sounds like you need a slight unfill. Many times, when you throw up, it causes your stoma to become irritated and swollen. It's a never ending cycle. You throw up, you become swollen, causing more restriction, causing you to throw up. This experience should not be a painful one. Good luck and call the doctor.
clifton81 1 Posted July 4, 2008 Tell me this. I threw up two days ago. the next day I ate food and I was fine. Now it is 3 days since and I feel like this again. The problem is is that my doctor is from Mexico. I don't have insurance. Can I just wait until the holidays are over or does it have to be right now?
brown bear 0 Posted July 4, 2008 I have no experience with this, but - perhaps you should try liquids only for a couple of days.
Mommy.ArmyWife 6 Posted July 4, 2008 I've heard that the band can get tighter a few days after a fill, and that certain foods can irritate your stomach, causing it to swell, and thus, the band will be tighter...
SeattleSweetie 5 Posted July 4, 2008 Stick to liquids for a few days just to make sure you're getting something down, let your stomach calm down, and then call your doctor after the holiday.
clifton81 1 Posted July 4, 2008 Thank you so much guys for the help. I just talked to the lady that set up my surgery with my doctor in Mexico. She told me to go see this doctor that will do a flouranoscopy to see what is wrong and I will get an unfill. I feel so much better. I have to go back on liquids now:thumbdown:. Thanks again everyone. This is a great site.
juliegeraci 7 Posted July 4, 2008 Hi Clifton, the liquids should help. Sometimes the stomach lining can thicken and tighten the band. That is how my doctor described it to me. I would have a slight unfill. You should be better soon. Good luck.
