Dietfree 0 Posted July 3, 2008 Hello everyone, I was banded on June 25, just little over a week ago. I chose the name Dietfree because I have high hopes of never being on a diet again. In fact I threw away all my diet books and it felt great! I was checking out your FAQ on Post Op stuff and all the questions I had were completely answered, especially about the gas that travels up to the shoulder blade....ouch! I am 5 feet, 2 inches, and was at 212 on surgery day but I have been losing a pound a day. I have absolutely no hunger, nada, nothing. In fact when I do eat I can only tolerate a few bits and I a so uncomfortable I can't stand it. I was told that the band would be put on empty and my first fill is 5 weeks away. I don't think I need a fill. Anyone else experience this???
gone 4 ever 6 Posted July 3, 2008 Welcome and good luck on your journey.. It is perfectly natural at this point not to be really hungry.n Your swollen on the inside... So don't be discouraged when later you start to eat like you did before banding. You might also gain a little wight back. That is also common before getting fills and hitting your sweet spot. Just make sure you are drinking enough. We will look forward to your posts.
auntlucy 22 Posted July 4, 2008 I wasn't hungry for about 10 days after surgery, but as I continued to heal, I did get hungry. By the time my 1st fill appointment came, I was ready for it. Now I'm definitely ready for my 2nd one which is next week. Right now, I don't feel like I have much restriction at all. My advice to you is to still follow the rules even when you are on solid foods and are hungry. I have really tried to limit my food to the portion sizes my doctor and nutritionist recommended. Good luck! You will do great!
brown bear 0 Posted July 4, 2008 Congrats on not being hungry. I am envious. I too was banded on the 25th and I bought some 1 cup size plastic storage bowls. I pack my lunches in them and eat them one at a time but I eat more like 5 times a day instead of just 3. I don't cook often so when I do, I fill the available containers and put the rest in a large container for the rest of the family and they know to leave my containers alone.
