Welcome.

I had surgery this morning and resting fairly comfortably. I did take the GasX and codeine that the dr. subscribed. Some tender spots where the big incision is and a little sore in the left shoulder.

I strongly encourage all newbies to check out this website. There is a wealth of information and true-life bandsters that can talk about their experiences. The support and suggestions from the forums is irreplaceable -- unless they've been through the process themselves.

Tons of reading to do on this site... I find myself logging in five, six times a day.

Enjoy your discovery journey!

I am new to this website. Just had lap band June 27th, 2008. Where can I find directions on posting and blogging? I have had a computer for years but never blogged before. Not quite sure how to do it.

I have questions I would like to post.

Hi! I am a 38 year old female. I weigh 251 and I am 5'9". I am in the process of getting the lap-band. Would you have the surgery all over if you were given the chance or would you not even suggest trying it?

That is GREAT!!. Did you loose any weight the first week or so? I had the band only 6 days ago and have only lost almost 2 pounds.

Hello--- I'm soon to be 50 and I am hoping to get my band in Oct. sometime. I am currently doing the supervised Dr. visits then I will be ready to go.

To those that have their bands, do you like it? Was it difficult to get through the first month? After your first fill was there a significant change? Are there any foods that you can't eat??? What about wine?

I know, lots of questions...

LOVE my band , BEST Thing i ever did in my life !!! The first few months were not difficulut. Just "different" . Getting use to the rules . The best thing i can tell you is to CHEW CHEW CHEW practice the chewing and small bites nearly a yr out I STILL have problems rememering that .

After you get your first fill you may or may not notice a change ? It depends if you get restriction from the first fill. I Did . Others do not.

I have noticed those w/ the larger bands tend to take a bit longer for the fills to kick in . I have a 4cc band . I got restriction my first fill .

Foods i cant eat .

bread

rice

Pasta

Breaded things like chicken , fish

Wine , I have a small amoutn every now and then but im not a big drinker.

Ask away , feel free to email me if you like as well

MIndy

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
