There is no balance from going to a Doctor and all them focusing on is that I'm fat to it being completely ignored...

This is such a lot of crap. I guess that is how they justify why they won't cover any weight loss surgery. I had to self pay and went to Monterrey, Mexico. Thank you Dr. Zappata for making it available at a price I could afford. 35 pounds lost since surgery 4/7/2008

This article is still pissing me off....seriously. I've told EVERYONE about it that I've talked to today. Seriously....W...T...F....how can they be allowed to post this BS?? You KNOW people will believe this crap, especially people that are looking for excuses to remain fat and do nothing about their current condition....

5% death rate from WLS is my personal favorite.

What a load of poop, the people responsible for this should be shot. They are doing the obese community A LOT of harm with their made up statistics. Another thing that really chaps my ass is some dingleberry is going to read this, believe it, continue to be obese and die in 5 years from some co-morb because they thought it was "okay" to be fat. OR they are afraid of being the 5% that dies from WLS!!! :tt1:

Sorry, done ranting...it's just really scary stuff like this is out there.

I have a hunch the 5% mortality rate for WLS is going to do more harm than the loaded line of crap she spewed about everything else. People already associate bypass with death and reading this from a sort of "authority" type person, they'll believe it. Our 2nd graders in this world know the article overall is a load, but people will believe the WLS stats.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
