Scale victories & NSVs

Recommended Posts

I am so happy! My scale hit under 260 today! Haven't seen those numbers in a very long time. I know my restriction is pretty high right now and changing jobs has made it harder to eat so I eat when I can and whatever I can get down. Some days I just concern myself more with getting my liquids and Water in than anything else.

NSVs:

1. My attitude toward food is finally changing. I used to plan and think about what I would eat the next time I had opportunity to eat. Now, food is NOT my main concern with life. Plus I know now that if I feel uncomfortable after only 2 bites, it's OKAY to stop (and definitely is in my best interest).

2. Went to a concert of a friend last Saturday night and was told by several people (including one that doesn't really like me that much) that I looked fantastic.

3. Have had a few guys from my new place flirt with me (and we can't wear makeup or hairspray so I don't look my best when I'm there).

4. Started wearing size 20 jeans (even without elastic waistbands). At my surgery weight of 299, I was wearing 26/28 WITH elastic waists.

5. Employee at a nearby store stopped me to say I had lost a lot of weight how did I do it. Yes, I told her.

6. I can sit on the floor cross-legged now! I have always been limber, but couldn't do this because my stomach was in the way and balance was way off.

7. I can get into my mom's car without having to slide the seat back to accomodate my size. My stomach doesn't rub the steering wheel anymore!!

8. I am now working a job at nights from 6:45 pm to 7:15 am and even though I'm not on my feet all night like some are....I never could have done this kind of work 40 pounds ago.

9. Been doing home improvement stuff and am not afraid to get on step stools anymore. Was afraid of my balance being off and of breaking the darn thing!

10. Feeling so much more confident. I don't walk with my head down anymore.

I'm sure there are many more, but these are the ones that really inspire me right now.

Thank you! I love my band!

Last summer I was at my in-law's house (they live right on a lake, and there's a floating dock that juts into the water), my kids were swimming in the lake so I went on the dock, and as I stepped on it it started to sink and it broke off from the walkway I thought I would die. I had to stand on it (and not move) while my brother in law nailed in the broken piece. I was so humiliated I didn't go down to the Water for the rest of the vacation. (never mind wearing a bathing suit ha). I am hoping for a better experience this trip.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
