E is Everything Good

Recommended Posts

Hello All,

I am TheE, I have a BMI of 31. I had a BMI of 24 before I got married 5 years ago and had two kids. I have dieted and exercised all the time but have kept gaining weight. I reached my peak last year of BMI = 33 and battled it down. But now nothing I do seems to work that is why I am considering Banding.

I am here to gain information and courage to go on with my weight loss program. I dont want to struggle with this weight when I am older! Thanks for your time.

TheE

Hiya,

I wish you all the best is deciding if banding is for you. This site has loads of information on it. When I was preband I spent a lot of time reading the forum and it really gave me a good sense of what the band is all about. This band is one of the best decisions that I've made and it's really helping me tremendously.

Regards,

Alfie

hi i'm claire, i also have two children 6 & 3 and have struggled with my weight since i turned 18 (now 30), they found i had pcos which doesnt help, i also excercise and have been dieting ever since! infact i have dieted my self from 10st up to 15st which never made any sense to me! i finally plucked up the courage and asked my husband and parents to help me fund the surgery and as they know how low i get over my weight they agreed (husband not quite so easy, just concerned i suppose) i was banded on the 23 of june 10 days ago, i havent lost much as yet due to swelling but feel so positive that i have done the right thing and cant wait to move forward with my life. so i know how you feel and its down to you to make the decision, but i'd say go for it ( if youre like me you probably dread the next 10 years feeling trapped in a body you dont deserve, and now i know i dont have to yipee!!!) :Banane30::o

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
