Slipped Band

Recommended Posts

Already did the States & Mexico 2 years ago for 7 weeks. I have an uncle in Florida and his 2 kids live in Manhatton and Conneticut. He used to live in Conneticut but retired with his wife to Cape Coral. I also had an uncle in Mexico but he passed away so we went to visit my aunt and the kids. Had a great time but it burnt a hole in my pocket.

Maybe somewhere in between??

Is Tahiti in the middle? Ha, ha!

I think you need a list of where the people that are willing ( Have time etc) to meet and come up with a middle ground.

I'm in CT!

Anywhere in the northeastern, U.S. is easy for me. I live 1 hr north of N.Y.C. If we were truly planning to meet overseas, I probably could manage it with a lot of notice.

Thanks Donna. It wasn't a slip after all, it was a band placement error. I had it redone on 10 July and so far all is well. I've just finished my 2 weeks of liquids and now onto the mushies stage again. I believe all is good now and hoping that there are no other problems. At least the weight is coming off again!

Ok....Sades...you just live to dang far. However, I have always wanted to go to Australia. I want to see a kangaroo...and a baby kangaroo and of course Koala Bears. I know that I can go to a zoo but down under would be awesome. I also want to go to see Hillsong in Sydney. It is a large church over there that has an awesome music ministry. I am the worship leader at my church and I do a lot of Darlene Z's songs; she is the worship leader for Hillsong. Anyhoo! I digress. I really would love to go to Australia not sure how to pull it off but I can dream..

If we have a few nymphs from the NE, we could at least do a regional meeting unless we have some from the south etc, then we could meet in DC or someplace.

For the NE, I would vote for Boston or someplace where we could plan some sightseeing. We could go Shopping or do a duck tour.

Newport has a lot of great shopping and sightseeing too.

Any other ideas? Tahiti and Australia sound great and really expensive!

Ah Hillsong... I'm not into it but I know there are heaps of people joining every day. My friend's daughter was a member for a few years but she's moved on. I didn't realise they were Australian. Oh well, you live and learn!

I think you guys might have to meet without me and just send the video. I will have a holiday on my own and send you the video... almost like being there! :scared2:

No, you're right it's not! I can't even guess how much an airline ticket to AU costs or one from AU to the states! Got to be a lot!

I think a late fall weekend somewhere would be nice!

I'm actually going to be in Rhode Island the last week of August renting a house with the lady we went to the Cape with. I'll only be 25 minutes from Newport. Getting there in the fall would be pretty easy too. If you all would like to plan a fall getaway, I'm up for it!

Sorry, Sades. I would love to meet you too!!

Anyway, going for a fill today. I was able to eat way too much in Cape Cod and did. Put on 3 pounds! It should come right off with a fill and hopefully propel me into Onederland. No way am I changing my ticker to show the weight gain! I hate getting fills. I'm sore for a week and don't feel normal for about a month. I think I'll just stay on liquids and mush until the end of the Summer Meltdown!

Hi Sade

How are you doing, I hope you are well.

Thanks Marie. I'm doing pretty well now, it's been 3 weeks already since the 2nd op. I'm on the mushies stage now and have lost some more weight which is great. How are you going with your restriction?

I understand Cindy. You guys have an opportunity to do it much sooner than if we planned something.

And of course, you will come visit me. Hope the fill went well and I am keeping my fingers crossed that you don't have to many issues. I haven't had a fill in almost 3 months and still get stuck daily. I don't know when it will loosen up but I couldn't eat more than 3 bites of breakfast..did alright for lunch and had trouble with dinner. Finally gave up and ate an ice cream sundae...I know it was bad for me but I was hungry and it went down smooth. I've gotta get rid of the ice cream from this house...dang it.

Cindy

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
