Slipped Band

Recommended Posts

Wow! How unbelievable. I can't even imagine what you are going through right now. None us do but what we can do is think great thoughts for you. I am hoping that if you decide to have a new lap band put in that you will be at peace about it. I am sure that if you are rebanded that you will have much success but only you can decide if that is what you want.

We are with you Sades!

Hi all my fellow Nymphs

I went for my barium meal this morning (my time) and the xray dr said my band has slipped. I think it is only a slight slip but I'm not sure what that means. I am waiting to hear back from my dr's office to find out what my next move is. Naturally I am very sad about this. I knew I couldn't be eating the amount I was with such a large fill without something being wrong. At least I know now. I will keep you posted on what the dr says.

cheers

Sades

Hope everything turns out okay - I too am slightly worried I have caused a slip even though the doctor today said he thought I was fine - I have just been very surprised how much I can eat before I get the full feeling - are you able to eat normally and is that how you found out? I have not had a fill yet so it may just be that since I am only 10 days post-op it is too loose starting out. Good luck.

Hey Sades,

Did you get any sleep? Try not to worry so much that you don't get your rest. You need to keep your strength up. I am so sorry for what you're going through! I think I would be more mad than scared.

This will be over before you know it and a few weeks from now we will all be so envious when those pounds melt off you!

I finally fell asleep about 2.15am. I had about 5 hours sleep, better than nothing I guess. I'm still stressed but I am going ahead with it on Thursday. The dr said he will take the old one out and put a new one in, so hopefully there won't be any complications during surgery... that's what scares me the most.

I certainly need to start melting some of that weight away Cindy! :)

Mine is not a slipped band after all. It was a mistake made by my surgeons. It was placed near the stomach rather than around it. If you have no fill yet, then you would be able to eat lots more than you should. Once you get a couple of fills, then you can judge whether there's a problem. Generally slips are shown by PBing or throwing up, pain. There are a number of threads on this issue. It sounds to me more like you just need to hang in there until you get some restriction. Most people get through this process without too many problems. I was just unlucky I guess. Good luck.

Thanks Cindy. I think if they are going to go in to take it out they may as well put another in. A young girl I know who had it done 3 years ago had to have hers out because it caused a hernia but she had another one put in and hasn't regretted it at all. I'm hoping I have a better chance at success the second time around. She went to different dr to mine, just in case you ask.

I will keep you all posted on what's happening. I'm terrified but trying not to think about it too much. At least I'm very busy at work and don't have too much time to dwell on it. Thanks again all.

Thanks Cindy. I know what mean about bonding with people you don't know. I feel the same way.

I'm worried about whether I'm rushing into this. I'm still thinking about it being blotched up again.

Sades,

Good luck on the surgery tomorrow (or just a few hours away - I can't remember how many hours ahead of us you are). You will do just fine and will be sailing through the pounds in no time. Heck, just being on liquids for two weeks is going to catapult you in front of me.

I'm going to miss you as my "slow loser buddy", but I'll be happy that you finally have a workable band. Think lots of positive thoughts, breathe deeply, and relax. Let us know when you are out!

Sades,

Best wishes for a successful surgery and easy recovery. I know you will do just fine. Hopefully, you are already sleeping by now. I figured out that you're 14 hours ahead of me. Please get some sleep tonight so you're well rested. Try to think about how much easier it will be to get that weight off now. Focus on how skinny you will be very soon and try not to stress too much. I know it's hard but concentrate on positive thoughts. Think of you and your bandster friends getting together at the Barrier Reef in our new bikinis! :(

Good luck tomorrow. Please jump on when you get home and let us know how you did. We will all be thinking of you!

Sades,

I'm so sorry that you are going to have to have surgery again. It's pretty amazing that you have lost as much as you have considering the slipped band. You are in my prayers.

Big hugs,

Sades wil be having her surgery tomorrow afternoon ( Thurs) which I think is our Weds night (tonight).

I know how much she has been worried about going under for surgery again.

Please all November Nymphs, let's send lots of good thoughts and energy to our Australia band friend for a speedy recovery.

Judy

Next month you can send those thoughts my way, when my band is fixed!

Thanks Judy it's been great having your support through this time. Judy & I are both going through problems with our bands and have been supporting each other via PMs. I'll definitely be there for you when your turn comes around.

Big hugs,

Thanks very much Wendy, unfortunately it's not a slipped band but a misplaced band. It was placed around the fat tissue rather than the stomach. Hope they get it this time! :tt2:

Thanks Cindy, I was asleep but woke up (3.30am)... will try to get back to sleep shortly. I have to be at the hospital 2.30pm my time so I will go to work this morning and make my way from there (only 10 min walk away). It's easier because I can get a ride in the morning.

I'm imagining me in a bikini and slim or not, it will be a scarey sight !! :frown:

Thanks Foofy, I'm hoping for big loss at first, just to make up for what I haven't lost in the last few months!! Sorry you have to be left behind... :tt2:

I'm feeling a bit surreal at the moment... so not as anxious but I'm sure it will kick in again when it gets closer to the time!

Thanks everyone and I'll let you know how I went as soon as I can. Big hugs back!! :seeya:

Oh my GAWD Sadies, I can't believe that! Good luck on your surgery. Once you have it on the right way you'll be up and away.

Hollyberries - you were sooo a cheerleader in your past life, weren't you?

Thanks Linda. It's a bit mind boggling but I'm trying not to over think it this morning because I'll just get more anxious. I should be back home either late tomorrow or early Saturday. I will report back as soon as I can.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
