Self-Pay in Hampton Roads area.

Recommended Posts

Hello. I live in the Hampton Roads part of Virginia and I have decided to pay out of pocket for lap-band surgery as my insurance will not pay. Any information would be helpful for the total cost of the surgery preferably in the state of Virginia. Thank you.

Just a thought. I flew from NC to Denver to have Dr. Kirshenbaum do my surgery. It was less than $10,000 and I only had to go to Denver once. No pesky psych evaluations and nonsense like that. He is fantastic too.

I go to the wlsc of hampton roads and had surgery on June 25th. You pay a $750 program fee, and my surgery was $18,400, including the hospital and all care there as an outpatient.

Good Morning, I was self pay too. I paid $16,750, (I think that's what it was, it's been almost 4 years), which included overnight hospital stay and a year of fills..withOUT flouro. All fills by WLSHR is now done under flouro. Now the surgery is done as an outpatient.

Did I mention, I love my band :tongue_smilie:.

So if it is now outpatient, meaning no overnight, wouldn't it be a little bit cheaper?? I am waiting to love my band! :tongue_smilie:

LOL, you'd THINK SO, that it would be cheaper, but not according to Donna.

Keep us informed, and best of luck to you.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
