Found an old picture of me - inspiration!

Recommended Posts

First picture is circa 1986. Probably weighed 210.

Second picture is from a few months ago. Notice anything different! Pushing 3 bills at that point!

Had a hair transplant 2 months ago, and Lap Band installed 2 weeks ago.

I look forward to what I look like at the end of the year. For all of the money I spent, it better be a lot different!

WOW..You'll have to keep us posted on how close you get back to that 80's look (but with different shorts please). Is having a hair transplant a big process? Seems like that might be worse than having the lap band procedure.

Amazingly at 51 I still have a full head of hair but quite grey. Have young kids (10 and 12) and it occurred to them recently "Man...you're old to be a dad. Most of our friends dads are like....35". That prompted me to go out and buy some "Just for Men". Afraid it would end up looking like a bad dye job but it came out quite good. It took off about 10 years on me and the wife seems to like it (did the beard too). 40 more lbs to reach my goal weight of 160...I'm on my way!

Hahah I love the shorts....you are a vision of true 80's awesomeness!!!

(the shirt made me giggle too (just cuz it says Sex Wax))

Seriously though, you still are a good-lookin guy...don't be too hard on yourself. You are going to be even better then the "before" pic by the time you're at goal.

My stylist says my gray hair makes me look 'distinguished'. Thats her lie and she is sticking to it. The way I look at it, Ive earned every one of these gray hairs with stress and Im gonna wear them with pride.

Im in the same boat as you... 52 and with a 16 year old.

Till the mid 80's at least I was still in the Navy so I never got into the whole look of the 80's. But you have to admire the courage of anyone that can wear those shorts and keep on smiling, my hat is off to you.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
