What will YOU eat on the 4th of July?

Recommended Posts

I know us June people are all on different diets at the moment (clear, full, solids). But was wondering what everyone is planning on eating for our first holiday on the band!

I am on the Full liquid diet, so will treat my self to some strained tortilla Soup and sugar free popsicles all day.

We are going to the ballpark for the Diamondbacks game... I am a little concerned that I will be tempted by those huge hotdogs... but I know I can find something "chicken-like" to have instead! :biggrin2:

Happy 4th of July!

Actually, for the past couple of years I've tried not to associate food and major holidays. A local museum has an Impressionists exhibit on loan from a Chicago museum and my husband and I are planning on seeing that and then going geocaching.

I am on full liquids and am going to visit family out of town. I am bringing packaged Soups with me and when we get to Austin I will stop and pick up some yogurt smoothies. I also intend to bring my magic bullet just in case there is something served that I can blend into a liquid.< /p>

I made a cream of avocado soup.. it was so good.. I had a 1/4 of a cup and it was so filling. I thinnned it down with ff milk. I made it with 1 avocado, cayanne pepper, garlic powder, green onion and yogurt. Put it all in the blender and thin down with the milk. Yummy...

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
