pinkposey 0 Posted August 7, 2008 Well, I made it! Had my surgery August 5th @ 8:00 am. My doctor told me that the surgery went very well! I lost 13 lbs. in the one week liquid diet before my surgery! He did say my liver was fatty, but that's because I've been super-sized for several years. But even though my BMI isover 60, he said my surgery was no more difficult than any others he has done! I am sore, though. I have 5 incisions, but only one hurts, this must be the port incision. I've had some gassy, watery diarrhea (sorry if that's TMI), and am belching a bit. I've not been hungry at all. I spent the night in the hospital and had a few sips of broth and Jello, but mostly just sipped Water all day. I am going to try to eat/drink more today to build up my strength. I want to try to start getting my Protein in again, so I don't start losing my hair. Congrats to the other August Bandsters! I'm ready to start getting my life back now!
jenbug 0 Posted August 7, 2008 Can't wait to be banded. I am so sick of the pre-op diet. Only 5 days to go. But I love hearing the positive remarks about everybody getting banded and having little to no issues. I am so happy for everyone.

LindaGail 0 Posted August 7, 2008 I was banded on Monday in New York. I don't know much about Mexico but have read wonderful things about Dr Ortiz on every forum I've been on, I'm sure your in excellent hands, everyone who has been banded by him raves about him and the care they were given. Take Care, Lindagail

Surgery4me 0 Posted August 7, 2008 Surgery4me - Good luck on your surgery tomorrow! My surgery is on Monday and I'm getting a little nervous. Hello All, I am home from surgery. I went in yesterday morning and came home about 11:00 am today. I have to say...I feel pretty good. Once they put the mask on you and you start breathing in the happy juice...it's all downhill. The next thing I remember was waking up! There is some soreness and last night was tough with learning how to get in and out of bed, but all in all...it's been a great experience. I have ZERO hunger at the moment, but I know once the swelling goes down, that will likely change. So, to those of you with nervousness...you'll be fine. The doctors and nurses take very good care of you and so far, the pain is minimal. Make sure to take it easy and move slow...but move. I haven't had too much of the gas pain we hear of and I think it's becasue I'm up and moving. I'll keep you informed as the days go by! Best of luck to all the upcoming bandsters...this is going to be SOOOO worth it!
PaulaTx 0 Posted August 7, 2008 I am getting banded on August 14th! I can't believe it's so close! I'm on day 3 of the liquid diet. I think I'm going to DIE! I'm SO hungry. I'm drinking everything I"m supposed to, but just a few minutes later I'm hungry again. Any advice?
LindaGail 0 Posted August 8, 2008 Paula, When I was on the 2 weeks of Protein Drinks prior to my surgery it helped to put the Protein Drink in a blender with 4 ice cubes and puree for 30 seconds it makes a nice foamy shake that will fill you up. Hope it helps. LindaGail
