Who's Getting Banded in August???

Recommended Posts

Hi fellow All - Stars. My surgery is 15 days away and I am nervous. Today is the 1st day it actually hit me that I am actually having WLS. My stomach is in knots and feels like butterflies are flying around. The weird thing is - I don't know what part I am actually nervous about:confused2: I guess other then marriage and having a baby this pretty high up there for living changing events for me. Anyone else feeling this way?

I'm nervous too, Claudine, I won't lie. I have had moments of panic when I think about how this is going to change my life. But maybe it hasn't hit as hard as it's hit you yet, because right now, while on the pre-op diet, it feels like the surgery couldn't come fast enough. I hate how hungry I am all the time!

But I would put money on the fact that as it comes closer, it's going to become more real. You and I are actually having surgery on the same day too, so if you want we can panic together maybe? Lol!

hi lellow and claudine,

i also hae the same surgery date as both of you. and it hit me yesterday on my way to my pre op appointment. am now very nervous and cant believe i am going to let someone cut into me. not that i am nervous about that bit, but all the changes i am going to have to make. ive now not had chocalate digestives (my big failing) for nearly 5 weeks! as i decided as soon as i got my operation date, i was going to cut them out completly.

but august allstars will hep everyone through, and as we are going to be the first ones, we can tell everyone else what it is like.

Sarah

Great news dwrd! Not long now to go!

Keisha, it's kinda reassuring to have yet another bander-to-be going for the op on the 1st. It'll be good to compare notes with each other up to and after the surgery. And to be here for the other All-Stars as they have theirs.

How's everyone doing with their pre-op diets? I'm sitting here with my poor tummy rumbling but I'm off to bed soon (it's about 10pm now here in Perth, Western Australia) so no more hunger until the morning at least. :frown:

I will be getting banded August 29 by Dr. Miles at St. Vincent's East in Birmingham, AL. I started my journey in November 2007, I am excited and scared all at once but I figure if I can deal with the pain of 4 c-sections :frown: surely I can deal with the pain of getting this procedure done:thumbup:

Wow! That is great! Look at all the new August Bandsters....we are growing in size and the support we will have for each other is great! I can't wait to hear how the Aug 1st group does. You guys are going to be our mentors. LOL!

Nobody should be afraid of what's to come. Everybody should be afraid of not being able to live their life in a better way. Let's celebrate! WhooHoo! Ok, sorry, I added a little instant coffee crystals to my morning chocolate Protein Shake and I'm off work today, so I'm a little out there.

OMG I am scared too. I have never had surgery before, never been in the hospital before. Worst thing I've had is an ingrown toe-nail.

People are asking why do something so drastic if I do not surrently have any health issues like diabetes, etc... but call it vanity if you want, I want to be thin!

Oh, and I have also been chowing down big time on all my favorite foods prior to the liquid diet that begins on 7/25... not a good idea, I know. But I kinda feel like I have to get them all in while I can.

Saw my PCP & officially started my 6 month supervised diet 07/26/24. She just told me to eat less carbs & sugar, use the air fryer and not fry my foods in grease, and to try to walk 30 minutes 3 days a week & if I can't do that (and I cannot), to walk 10 minutes daily. Told me to walk fast enough that my heart rate is raised.  She didn't give me a number as far as calories though. A year or so ago I was doing low carb/sugar free and keeping my calories at 1800 or below. She said I should up my cals to 2000 at that time, so that's what I'm shooting for now.
Hubby walked with me today. He's in pretty bad shape so I was surprised he wanted to. We walked down the gravel road at a pretty good pace (for us LOL). 10 minutes walking and my heart rate was 115bps according to my Fitbit and 125bps according to his pulsometer. Either way, it was elevated and I was breathing hard. Doesn't sound like a lot, but it's a start. We'll do it again tomorrow. 😁
I should be hearing from the surgeon soon. She said if I didn't, to call him next week. Since I HAVE to do the 6 month diet & that's going to put me into January by the time it's done, I'm hoping the surgeon will let me do all my testing in January. I don't want to do it all now and have my deductible get met, only to have to pay the deductible again in January or February for my surgery. Praying that things go the way I hope. 🙏

Losing very slowly because I'm not doing anything I'm supposed to be doing. No motivation to eat properly or go to gym. Scared....

I'm so sorry you're depressed, but remember why you put yourself thru this surgery! You didn't do all of that for nothing. You've got this! You are strong! Lift your head up and get back in this! Go back to the basics if you need to.

You did this for you, don't let yourself down.

Factors Affecting the Growth of the Alternative Sweeteners Industry:
Health Consciousness: The increasing awareness among individuals about the health issues linked to high sugar consumption, such as obesity, diabetes, and cardiovascular diseases, is supporting the market growth. Consumers are becoming more health-conscious and seeking products that can provide sweetness without the negative health effects associated with sugar. This shift in consumer preferences is leading to a greater demand for low-calorie and natural sweeteners like stevia, monk fruit, and erythritol. These sweeteners offer the added benefit of having minimal impact on blood glucose levels, making them suitable for diabetic and health-conscious individuals.
Technological Advancements: Innovations in the production and formulation of alternative sweeteners are impelling the market growth. Advancements in biotechnology and food science are leading to the development of high-intensity sweeteners with improved taste profiles and functional properties. Innovations in fermentation processes enhance the production efficiency and quality of natural sweeteners like stevia and monk fruit. These technological improvements are making alternative sweeteners more appealing to both manufacturers and consumers. Enhanced stability, solubility, and sweetness intensity allow these sweeteners to be used in a wide range of products, ranging from beverages to baked goods.
Consumer Trends and Preferences: Evolving consumer trends and preferences are playing a significant role in driving the alternative sweeteners market. Consumers are increasingly seeking natural and plant-based sweeteners, aligning with broader trends toward plant-based diets and veganism. Besides this, there is an increase in the demand for low-calorie and sugar-free alternatives that support weight management and overall wellness. Food and beverage companies are responding to these trends by innovating and expanding their product lines to include options sweetened with alternative sweeteners, thereby catering to changing tastes and health concerns of modern consumers.
