Who's Getting Banded in August???

Recommended Posts

Lellow, oh yes, I'm on a Liquid Protein diet right now and visiting the bathroom every 30 mts or so. Sometimes sooner. 3 shakes a day and sugar free Jello and popsicles. My nutritionist recommend I start right away since I have 16 lbs to lose before surgery. I'm down 4 already. WhooHoo! Welcome to our club!

I'm trying to start the same diet your on! I'm really having a hard time with it! Truth be told I haven't made threw one day yet which scares me! I just told my family I'm only having liquid's for dinner and for the rest of the night.

I've been reading that beside's the fact doctor's usually want you to lose weight because it shrink's the liver but, it's also a test to see if the band going to work for you or not....people you can lose weight before the band are much more sucessful then those who don't. And I so badly want to be one of the one's to suceed!!!!

Well done Vegasgirl44! Hearing that you're doing so well gives me that shot of motivation I need! You're doing great!

Posted the same time as you cutiew. I agree I keep telling myself that if I can do this, life after the band will be a breeze surely! I cheated too yesterday and had a handful of potato crisps that my son was eating. Felt awful about it after so won't be doing that again. Esp when it didn't make me feel any less hungry!

I actually started yesterday. I can't believe I lost 4 lbs in ONE day! And day before, I only had a steak dinner. I've been weighing the same for weeks and it only took 1 day. If I had known this, maybe I would have tried it sooner. I haven't really gotten hungry yet. What I'm scared of is if I get bored. But I was home all day yesterday and was determined. Today I was at work and busy and drank Water all day. For lunch, I just took a Slimfast low carb shake with 20 Proteins. I think it's definitely the high Protein that keeps me full. But I saw a commercial for some wheat bread, and then I kept dreaming of toasted wheat bread with lots of butter on it. LOL!:crying::smile2: Then I just think about why I'm doing this and I think, dang it!, I'm gonna do it, and so can you guys!

Lellow I know what you mean about the junk food, I also fill worse after I eat it.....Why do we do that to ourselves? I don't get it!

I know. I feel like a complete loser for giving in and having some :tt1:. But I also know that the hunger worked against me, which is why I can't wait to get my band. Hunger has always been my enemy, and I'm hoping the band will be the weapon against my enemy.

If I could do this by managing my hunger then I wouldn't need the band. The hunger is terrible to live with long term. You might be able to for a while, but very few people have the kind of willpower to live with it forever. So if there is something that will help with the hunger, why not arm yourself with that weapon?

My dad, when I told him about the surgery, said you don't need surgery, just eat less, as though if it were that easy, I wouldn't have done it by now. :tongue_smilie:

The hunger is what gets me too. I hate the feeling of it!

Well, I'm proud to say that I made it from about 1:30 this afternoon to now 12:30am on just liquids, plus I went for a bike ride! A small stepping stone(: I can't wait to have my band....Can you believe I was supposed to have gotten mine July 21st which would have been next Monday! But, I waited because were going on Vacation the last week of July. Well, I'm off to bed.

Great work cutie! I had my one solid meal of the day at 12 noon and this time yesterday (almost 4pm) was wanting to gnaw my arm off with hunger, but today am doing okay drinking lots of Water and keeping distracted.

We can do it!

Sask, love your sparkly banner! I've been playing with mine on and off all day trying to find the perfect one.

My dad, when I told him about the surgery, said you don't need surgery, just eat less, as though if it were that easy, I wouldn't have done it by now. :tongue_smilie:

My dad said the same thing! Frustrating isn't it?

LOL at the rocking back and forth in the corner also. :tt1:

Cutie - When I make my smoothies I use the Protein Powder the surgeon gave me (strawberry), a 1/2 container of flavored fat free yogurt (Strawberry Cheesecake) , 1/2 a banana and 8 oz. skim milk and ice. I got a little smoothie mixer at Walmart that is great! It is yummy!

Have any of you tried the Swanson canned chicken? It is yummy! Pure Protein also. That is what I eat for lunch everyday. I've heard it comes in handy after banding also.

Cutie, Sask, and all!

I noticed in another posting somewhere that someone had used the same banner site and gotten STARS with the words! And I was like, how did they do that. So, I started playing around with the fonts and realized that only certain fonts allow asterisks and at least one of them puts them as real STARS. I forget which one, but if you are willing to change your font, put an asterisk before and after the name, you get real stars. And I used a - mark, but I think it came up as a star instead. Weird, but cool. Sask, welcome to the group. We've only been chatting a few days, but we are already tight and we don't even know each other's real names. LOL!

Figpuddin, that is exactly the way I made my Protein smoothie last night, except I used Boston Cream Pie ff yogurt with chocolate mix. Hey! it's the only kind I had in the fridge. Wasn't too bad. LOL! Later!

Saw my PCP & officially started my 6 month supervised diet 07/26/24. She just told me to eat less carbs & sugar, use the air fryer and not fry my foods in grease, and to try to walk 30 minutes 3 days a week & if I can't do that (and I cannot), to walk 10 minutes daily. Told me to walk fast enough that my heart rate is raised.  She didn't give me a number as far as calories though. A year or so ago I was doing low carb/sugar free and keeping my calories at 1800 or below. She said I should up my cals to 2000 at that time, so that's what I'm shooting for now.
Hubby walked with me today. He's in pretty bad shape so I was surprised he wanted to. We walked down the gravel road at a pretty good pace (for us LOL). 10 minutes walking and my heart rate was 115bps according to my Fitbit and 125bps according to his pulsometer. Either way, it was elevated and I was breathing hard. Doesn't sound like a lot, but it's a start. We'll do it again tomorrow. 😁
I should be hearing from the surgeon soon. She said if I didn't, to call him next week. Since I HAVE to do the 6 month diet & that's going to put me into January by the time it's done, I'm hoping the surgeon will let me do all my testing in January. I don't want to do it all now and have my deductible get met, only to have to pay the deductible again in January or February for my surgery. Praying that things go the way I hope. 🙏

Losing very slowly because I'm not doing anything I'm supposed to be doing. No motivation to eat properly or go to gym. Scared....

I'm so sorry you're depressed, but remember why you put yourself thru this surgery! You didn't do all of that for nothing. You've got this! You are strong! Lift your head up and get back in this! Go back to the basics if you need to.

You did this for you, don't let yourself down.
