I noticed this too, and it was perfectly timed to be related to my poor eating habits, especially low protein....so I upped the Protein and it seems to have abated....

What kind of Protein supplements can I take?? (Like drinks) I love getting my hair done and I always have some kind of style to it but if I keep on losing it I wont have any hair to fix up!! I am really worried!

The hair loss is most likely related to the surgery and the effects of anesthesia. It is certainly related to the Protein intake as well.

There isn't really any particular type of Protein to take in. Just any protein will work. That is unless SandyRN has more suggestions that I don't know about. By the way, I am also an RN.

I have not had my surgery yet but I had my hair done yesterday and I was asking my hairdresser how I could avoid Hair loss from the surgery. She suggested I take prenatal Vitamins. She said that is very effective. I am going to try it and see. She said that she has a client who had by-pass about 6 months ago, was not taking any Vitamin supplements and her hair really started thinning out. Once she started taking the prenatal vitamins, my hairdresser said it helped -- took about 6 weeks to notice any difference though.

I don't ask Sandy questions all the time, I was just saying that when I did have questions she had good answers for me.

I appreciate everyones suggestions I will keep them all in mind. I will be going to GNC today to buy some Protein vitamines and supplements!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
