:redface:Hello fellow banders, My name is Kathy and I am a single mother of two wonderful daughters. I have been overweight since my youngest daughter was born 14 years ago. I have constantly been on some kinda diet and I am so tired of it, so I decided to go to Mexico to get banded (it was less expensive there than in the states and my insurance would not cover it.) I have had my band since June 10, 2008. I quickly lost 17 lbs, but I have not lost a single pound in the past 2 weeks, actually I have gained 2 lbs since I have started soft foods. My first fill is not scheduled until July 19th and I am so afraid that I am gonna gain some of the weight back because I have started eating more and I don't have as much restriction as in the beginning and I am finding it difficult not to snack between meals. If there is anyone out there that has had the band and has lost the weight, please let me know if it is normal for me not to have lost anymore weight and please tell me that I will start losing soon.

It is normal and you will start losing. It is just the beginning for you. Just try to maintain for now until you get your first fill. 17lbs in less than a month is REALLY good. Don't beat yourself up about it. Just be good to your band and try to follow the bandster rules untill you get your first fill. You will be o.k.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
