camron57 0 Posted July 1, 2008 I needed a stress test , not on the treadmill, and it was done in 2 sessions. I'm going thru clearance to get a lap band. They told me the results would go to my primary Dr. I received a call from the heart specialist today wanting me to come see him Wed. I am so scared, is this the norm for these test? I've cleared the other things except the sleep study. I thought I would have my lapband by Aug. I have a hernia in my stomach too, things are looking bleak. Have any of you gone thru this, I am 67 years old, I might have waited to long.I wish the Dr. had gave me a clue if something is wrong.
Lizalee 1 Posted July 1, 2008 HI Camron, Don't give up yet. As you're probably thinking, it COULD be that your stress test was abnormal. So...the question for the heart specialist will be if you need to have more tests? medication? Surgery? Angioplasty/stents? Who knows. You can speculate and worry, but you just won't know till you talk to him/her. It could end up being something minor. You don't give much of your health history, but generally weight loss decreases the stress on your heart, so, even if your test is abnormal, it may still be possible to have your surgery. Again, there's no way to guess at this point. It will all depend on what the heart doctor says, etc. Hoping you get good results and can still be on your journey to weight loss. Meanwhile, the worst part is waiting and not knowing!!!
kkarryall 0 Posted July 1, 2008 Good luck I hate NOT KNOWING. But you will find out on Wednesday; don't kill yourself with speculation.

Northwest_Nance 0 Posted July 1, 2008 Waiting is so hard. I think the doctor should have given you some idea what's going on. I always imagine the very worst and 99% of the time it turns out to be really not that big of a deal. Chances are good that because you are over 50 they just want to have the assurance of a heart doctor clearing you for surgery. But if they did find something they need to treat or fix, try to focus on being thankful they found it and will treat it..... everything will work out in time (I know, I know, that's the hard part!)
