Tricare South - Status 'Pended': What does that mean??

Recommended Posts

I just looked at my referral for tricare online and my status is 'pended'. Does anyone know what that means? Seen it before? Is it good or bad? If you were pended...where you approved or denied? so many questions!! ahahahahaha...what an agonizing process!!:confused2::frown::lol::)

Pended or pending to me would mean that maybe they are awaiting more information before approval. The best thing is to contact you provider directly and they should be able to tell you where your at. This is probably the most agonizing part of whole process is the waiting. Good Luck.

Pending, or pended means that they had received the paperwork, but haven't reached a decision yet. Check again first thing in the morning, it took maybe 45 minuted for mine to go from "P" to "A".

Hi.. I'm TriCare Prime Remote North. I was "pended" for my Psych consult. It was pended for about a week until I called and checked on it. They had someone call me 2 days later about it. The psych that my surgeon wants me to see wasn't in network but it was pended for TriCare Standard, which basically means $300 deduct and 50% of cost. Translation....I pay out of pocket for psych consult. It's $220 which I guess is average.

I would call and talk with someone at TriCare. They have been very helpful for me~

Hope this helps...

Do you mind me asking what Dr. your going through? I just went to my first appt today and am going to start getting my blood tests, etc. together this week. I'm also Tricare South.

How long did it take you to get to "Pending"?

Good luck!

My Dr. is Ferrara in Fort Worth, Texas. My file was submitted on Friday. So it was pretty quick that they even have something 'pended' in the system. I'm calling them 1st thing in the morning and will keep you guys posted!!

I just got off the phone with Tricare...and they stated that file is pending review. It will be up to 5 days before a decision is made. So keep your fingers crossed.

I had my nutrition meeting at the Dr's office yesterday. It was $75. I have my physch eval tomorrow - $150. I think I might wait on the Physch eval to see if I'm even approved because I don't want to give up $150 and get denied insurance coverage. I can't pay for the surgery out of pocket, so insurance is my only option.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
