My Dr. did give me pain meds after surgery so that should help you. Maybe if you take it easy you will be able to go. If the seats are going to be hard you might want to take a small pillow with you so you will be more comfortable.

its a very quick recovery from what I read here and from my own experience there should be no reason you cant get to your daughters recital.Im still a bit bloated and a few things but nothing that keeps you from a recital Id think.good luck

I don't know about that, Flower. I found pain meds to be VERY disorienting, so though I had a prescription I went without from day 2. On Friday after my Wednesday surgery I was pretty beat, but able to move around fairly well without too much discomfort. I think I spent most of the day in a recliner and just walking around the house.

Sitting in one position for any more than 30 minutes or so might be very uncomfortable. If you have freedom of movement or can take breaks, you should be OK.

Just be sure you don't over do it, I would have been able to go, but I would have been very, very tired by the end of the recital. I had prescription pain meds, but they didn't affect my mind

Hi Flower,

My doc does NOT prescribe pain meds post surgery, just liquid tylenol!

So, the recital is 2 days later? You will be sore, but I think this is doable! I agree with the others about not "over doing" it, and taking a small walk every so often. Wear comfy clothes, nothing tight fitting. The pillow is also a great idea.

A dance recital is somehting I would NEVER miss! :)

I had surgery on a Thurs., and got out of the hospital in Fri. and went to the movies and shopping (in mexico) on Fri. night. I didn't take the pain pills, I really wasn't in much pain. I think you'll be alright! Good luck!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
