I'm so sorry your friend had to go. Cancer in Goldens and Boxers and Flat Coats is all too common. I lost the dog love of my life (Flat Coat) last year. The sadness can be unbearable. I hope you have other furry companions and that the good and funny memories will soon replace your grief and pain. ((((dog lover hugs))))

I have a toy poodle and I keep loving all over her. But it is not the same as having a big dog like Baby she always made me feel protected. Baby lived with my parents since my husband and my son have dog allergies so I guess I feel guilty because I did not get to spend alot of time with her like I did growing up. My parents also have another dog Duke and he is a very big dog I feel sad for him cause right now he is just laying by the door waiting for baby to come home.

Melissa, I am sorry for the loss of your pup. They love so unconditionally.......truly a best friend. I hope you are better soon.

I go the 12th for my first visity with Dr. Davis for the shake diet. I hope I can do this. I am having other problems too. I wake up every morning at 3am with anxiety and my pulse racing. I checked it this morning and it was 102. I think it is this Savella. I don't want to have a stroke. I am cutting it back today. The weather is warm (80 degrees) so I am not hurting.

My weight loss is at a standstill.......up 3......down 3 . Some thing has got to change soon.

Charlene - thanks for understanding the loss. I really want to know all about the shake stuff you are doing when you start. I so need a jump start again. You should ask your dr about the pulse racing that is not good.

I cut back my Fibro med yesterday and I did not wake up at 3am with a racing pulse. Yep, it is the medicine. The weather is warmer now, so I am gonna wean off of it. I am changing doctors. When I told my doctor about the anxiety she told me to just take an extra BP pill.....okay, I did that, but my pulse still got over a hundred. I have lost confidence in her. I am going to taik to Dr. Davis about it tomorrow.

I will be on Bariatric Advantage......800 calories a day until he puts me on two shakes and two meals a day. So, now you know what I know. I just saved you 500 bucks in the initial cost. I am starting it on the 18th.

Hey, Kimaly, Crzy......where are you?

1 Day, Sorry to hear about your pup. It's a terrible thing that only a dog lover could fully understand. I know all of mine are like my children to me.

Well, I was MIA for a few days,(My daughters beautiful grandmother passed away) so i'm doing my Tuesday weigh in today and 1lb down this week. I'm happy with it. I thinks it because my band has been so so tight the last few days I think due to stress. Hopefully it will get back to normal this week, today is better then yesterday. Being back home helps.

Charlene, I am still here, but still dealing with my new "angel" in my class. He came after me last Thursday with the intent to cause me pain. They put me, and then the whole school, on lockdown until they could get him under control. I went to the doctor on Monday to get some anxiety medicine so I can get my nerves under control. I should go on medical leave until the stressful situation is under control, but I have worked my butt off and so have my kids all year long. We have our standardized tests next month and I don't want to put my students in turmoil by leaving them. Sooooo, that means I go to work each day and hope I get to come home each night unscathed. Pray for me, I need it.

One, I am sorry to hear about your dog. We had a German shephard for 14 years before she passed and it was hard. It is like losing a member of the family.

OMG.....sounds like he is the one that needs medicating. Are they waiting till he assaults you? Take care of yourself first. I know that sounds kind of selfish, but if you don't....they won't. We didn't get fat taking care of ourselves first. I will pray for you. Hey, by the way, what part o LA do you live? My DH is going to New Orleans on a business trip for Dow. He stays in Baton Rouge. I was thinking about going with him, but I will be on shakes.....no fun....can't eat out and don't have the money to gamble everyday.

I am going to Dr. Davis tomorrow. I will scoop y'all when I get back. Take care!

I am near Baton Rouge. If he is going to New Orleans, it must be Dow, St Charles. There is a Dow in Plaquemine near Baton Rouge, though. If he is going to Dow near New Orleans why is he staying in Baton Rouge? It is over an hour away!:blushing: The drive is not nice in the mornings. My husband has to go to the one in St Charles about twice a month.

Oh, and the child is medicated, but just for ADHD. He needs mental help. I feel bad for him, but it is a rough situation for all involved. My para and I were exhausted by the middle of our second block because the adrenaline left us from dealing with him in the morning. The cops and everyone else want us to take off the kid gloves with him. Not to give up on him, but they said by treating him different and him not giving the consequences he needs, we are actually stopping him from getting the emotional/mental help/therapy that he so desparately needs. The judge will order it once he has a few more "blow ups". His mom isn't voluntarily getting him any therapy at all. It seems that it is because his home life contributes to the problem and they don't want people "messing in their business". I just don't want anyone to get hurt while we are trying to get him the help he needs.

I meant he is working at Plaquemine. He will probably stay in Baton Rouge. I would go if it wasn't for a week.

Sounds like the kid needs to be evaualted by a psychiatrist. Somebody from Child Protective Services needs to investigate. Maybe the kid will get the help he needs. I am sorry you are having to go through such stress. I hope the do something soon. Well, if I decide to go with DH I will get your number and we can meet up. It will be in April.

Yep, it is going to be tough. He is offering appetite suppressants if I need help, but I do not want to take them. I think they are bad to take with this fibro med I take. He said if I can get past a few days I won't be hungry. This time, unlike before surgery, I do have restriction. So I start the 23rd. I will be going every tuesday for two hours. I will see the doctor once a month, and the Pa and dietician every week. Yesterday when the doctor pressed on my stomach and I almost came off the table. He thinks I need a ct scan to check for diverticulitis. YUK! I hate drinking that contrast. I will call on Monday and see about checking it out before I get worse. The shakes ought to help that too.

Yes, I'm not to big on meds myself. getting me to take something new is like pulling teeth. I only take what I have too, Like my colest. med and vits. If you get a little grouchy while your on liquids feel free to vent. I know I was when I did the pre op diet and after the band in the healing stage. Sometimes venting helps.

yes, shakes and vitamins.......and lots of Water and fluids. I think he said I will get to ketosis so the weight should come off fast. I guess it will go week by week. I just know I am on the fast track which is all shakes. The slower one is two shakes and two meals. I will give you the info when I start. I know this is going to be hard at first.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
