For the first time in 2 weeks I slept through the night without being awakened by acid reflux. It's so nice to be back to "normal."

All the butterflies will be skinny and hot by the time I have my baby! you go girls!!

Hi all, I just wanted to pop in and say hi and give a quick update. I read all the entries in my email, but rarely get

over here to post.

I'm down 68 pounds so far and feel fabulous. I am 3 pounds from my initial goal of 160, but have now changed

my goal to 140 since I can see the smaller me. That puts me right into the normal BMI category which would be

great. That being said though, if I stall here I would be okay. I am in a size 12, run approx. 10-12 miles a week

and just plain feel good.

On the band front, I have been having a few issues. The first four months were a breeze but the last two have

been up and down. I got a fill on 12/3 and had to go in for a partial emergency unfill on 12/8. Things were still

iffy and then two weeks ago, I suddenly got super tight. Period came, so I assumed it was that. Period left and

the tightness stayed (I would get stuck on pureed Soups some days). I haven't been under any more stress than

usual so I don't know. I didn't schedule a new appt since I already had one on 2/4 but ended up on liquids for

those two weeks. At my appt Wednesday, I told him what was going on and he wants to err on the side of

caution. Complete unfill, test for h-pylori and I have to go in today for a gallbladder u/s. If all that comes back

alright, in 4 weeks we can start filling again. We shall see...

My timeline/story is here if anyone wants to see...

Lacey, congrats on the phenomenal progress you've made so far. I'm sorry to hear you may be having some issues. Your doctor certainly seems to be taking a very cautious and conservative approach. Anyway, the unfill will give you a bit of a break so that's good. I hope it's just a matter of being a bit too tight and that you'll be able to get back on the "band" wagon in no time.

I feel I'm getting towards the home stretch of my weight loss with less than 40 pounds to loose now. It's much harder now. Coming off at like 1 pound a week now. I give all the credit to food journaling.

I'd take 1lb a week right about now. That's still great. I hope I can start that again after my fill on tuesday. Although I'm still a little afraid after the whole over fill thing last time.

That's great to hear, nothing worse then not being able to sleep and still having to go on with your day.

Awesome weight loss! Yes, it makes a huge difference when you journal. I haven't journaled today, and I am eating like crazy.....not bad stuff....just too much.

I have been to the doctor 14 times. Just two were unfills. I have a 9 cc Realize band and I am at 8.8 right now. It is full of the thicker stuff they can put in. I was wondering if any one else has had this many fills. thanks!

Do any of you eat sweets?

I've only had 4 fills. My commitment is to avoid sweets and other non-nutritional foods for as long as it takes and probably beyond. Sweets do nothing good for me and I don't feel good after eating them. I make small exceptions, but only rarely. They are by no means a regular part of my diet.

So, how are you doing?

Just see if you can get your fills slowly this time. I haven't been overfilled yet, but I did become tight after my hysterectomy and it wasn't pleasant. I hope your fill goes well. Just remember, if you have ANY doubts about much was filled, have them take a little out before you leave. You can always get a little more put in later. Good luck!

I am with you on this one! Food journaling keeps me honest. I did not drop ANYTHING for over 4 weeks. I knew it TECHNICALLY wasn't my fault because my calories were correct. I stuck with it and now my scale is moving again, finally. I guess it helps that my band loosened up a little bit so I stopped eating the Special K.:) I know it is supposed to be good for you, but my body doesn't like straight carbs like Cereal.< /p>

About the special K, I was wondering about the whole not drinking while you eat and the milk thing. I guess it would be the same with Soup. sometimes I do eat it but I try to drain as much milk off the spoon as possible. But just wondering if it defeats the purpose

What my mentor, Jessie Ahroni says, is that you can bend the rules about cereal and Soup IF it works for you. She often has a latte and a high Fiber cereal bar for Breakfast on the way to work. When I have soup, i try to have most of the liquid part first and then the solids if there are any. Hope this helps.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
