Hi Ladies, just wanted to check in and tell all to have a great holiday. Went to the doc. today and he would not give me a fill due to a 15 pound lose in the last month. I know I should be happy about the lost, but I tried telling him that the lose is due to my hard work, working out seven day a week and not because I have restriction. I am so starving at night and find it harder and harder to resist snacking. Now I don't go back until after Christmas and I am nervous about all the food during the holidays. Anyone got a game plan for food at family gathering?

The best advice I can give is to only put on your plate the foods you really want and only put a reasonable amount of it. Don't go back for seconds!!!! I personally skipped dessert at first and ate it 4 hours after dinner as my next "meal". I am not concentrating on losing this week, just not gaining. Good Luck!

crzytchr, thanks for the advice. That's what I did, took only what I really wanted. Then later just a small piece of sugar free pie.

Hello everyone!! My name is Melissa and I am from Montana. I am happy to find a thread that is for us July 08 bandsters. I am 36 and a single mother of 2 teens. They are both very supportive about this whole picture and excited for when I “get skinny” so we can do things together. It is nice to have teens that still care about that. I was banded on July 27.08. Dr Rohrer in Greatfalls MT did my surgery. He is an awesome surgeon, and has a great bedside manner too. I have lost 30 pounds and it has been an uphill battle. I have had 3 fills, all 3cc’s each. My last fill was in mid November and I noticed a major difference. I started at 284 pounds and am glad to be down the 30 pounds but wish it were more. I will keep trying. I look forward to visiting with you all. Thank you.

I'm really proud of myself, all that good food and all that cooking and I only ate 5 shrimp and a bite of turkey. It wasn't as hard as I thought it was gonna be and I get to change my ticker today. Boy that's a first for me, losing weight during the holidays

I'd go back to the doctor and demand a fill - take a diary of what your eating and how much exercise you're doing. show him/her you can eat more than a cup of food.

Melanie, thanks for the support and advice. I will do just that! I keep a daily food log so that should be easy to show. He is just very reserved on the fills and wants you to work just as hard as the band, but I think I am working much hard than the band at this point.

Wow, it has been a hectic few days for me. Today is my birthday, I am now 41. My DD made me hot fudge sundae cake of which I ate a small piece with one scoop of vanilla icecream. Quite an amazing feat considering it is incredibly tasty and I used to consume 2 pieces with 3 scoops of icecream.

I told my DH to not buy me anything for my birthday (I meant it) because I bought clothes yesterday. Gotta love that Lane Bryant buy one get one free on everything in the store!!!! I am now 4 sizes smaller in my jeans and 2-3 sizes smaller in my tops.

I had my second fill last week and it is now acting up (tight little bugger). I have pbed 3 times in the last 3 days!!!!! I never was sick before this. The first time was on a piece of whole wheat toast, second time on turkey (not dry) and the third was this morning after my second bite of scrambled eggs. Ok, I can understand the turkey and whole wheat toast, but I can't deal with the scrambled eggs. Dangit, if I am going to get sick on eggs, they are gonna have to take some of this out. Sooooo if I get sick again, I will go in to have them take .5 out, because I only had them put 1 in when I went.

Good luck to everyone during this holiday season. May we all keep our composure and make it through the holidays lighter, or at least not heavier.

I was like that after my 2nd fill, now I just can't eat so early in the morning. But things seem to go down much better in the afternoon. If it keeps it up you might want to get a slight unfill.

Yep, I have been pbing every other day since my last fill. I am calling the doctor tomorrow and see if he will take some out. I pb'd on fish yesterday. It took an hour to get it out before I could burp. It was so painful. I took pepcid today and so far so good. I think I also have a little reflux.

Happy belated birthday Crzytchr! Once you start getting some restriction from the fills, the morning eating seems to be out. Most people can't handle anything but liquids until lunch time.

I got for my 5th fill tomorrow. I hope it gives me some more restriction as I can eat just about anything (nothing gets stuck unless I eat too fast) and I can eat way more than 2 cups of food at a sitting. Although I don't feel I have much restriction and I'm eating way less food than I used to eat, I also don't feel hungry like I used to; in fact I'm rarely hungry these days even if I skip meals. Down side, I am not losing, but at leat I am not gaining. I really think at this point, it's going to have to be exercise for me.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
