Wow! I've dropped seven pounds in eight days! I could just kiss Dr. Tran. :-D

And better yet, no PBing, no problems eating (carefully) even in the morning. Just a subtle decrease in hunger level that allows me to not eat quite as much and as often. :tongue2::thumbup::lol:

I'll be darned, this thing actually works! :tt2:

WOW Orea!! awesome!!!!

I lost another lb this week and as I look at the scale wishing it were more I think of both my parents that lost all their weight in like 5 months with Gastic bypass and yet have gained some of that weight back and are still struggling.. I cant help but think slow and steady is the way to go. I only have 100 more lbs!! at one lb a week that should take... forever! lol! but seriously.. I am sad for them and wish they would have known about this option. I guess I can praise God that other than still throwing up weekly at times.. they dont have any other major problems as so others I know do.. its scary.

its also nice to wear the tightest pants you have owned in the last 5 years and have them fit loosely or zip up a sweatshirt and not look like a stuffed sausage :tongue2: yay! for non-scale victories

When you get to goal. it won't matter a bit that you took a few more months to get there. It'll still be awesome, and you'll be there for the rest of your life. :tongue2:

We are going to develop the virtue of patience whether we like it or not!

Of course, if I could miraculously be at goal tomorrow, I'd take it. However, I think that the slower the process/progress, the more permanent the results. Although I've only lost 22 lbs in 4 months I'm still celebrating because I've never before steadily lost for 4 months. I've been on diets and lost that much weight in much less time but I've always gained it back and the longest I've ever stayed on any diet was 3 months. I'm not on a diet now and I'm steadily losing weight. It may take me 2 years to reach goal but this time, I know I will get there.

I'm curious, have any of you tested yourself on the Ketostix? If you've ever been on an Atkins diet, you will know what I'm talking about. Anyway, I found some strips left over from a couple of years ago and tested my self today and the results said my ketone levels were moderate. I never reached moderate level even when I was doing Atkins before so I think I am at the fat burning stage.

Hey ladies, my name is April and I am new to the site and just found this thread. Hope it's ok to jump in. I was banded on July 14,2008. I live in Indiana and have had good results but with many ups and downs. Not much restriction yet but feel like it will come just when I need it the most. When the will power wears off. It is so great that you all support each other and are there to it each other going.

I haven't tested since I have been banded. I know I was in ketosis after surgery, because my breath was kicking.:Dancing_sorry: I eat too many carbs now to go into ketosis.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
