Afternoon June bugs!

Thanks vzghj Long , Allie, and Apples for the food suggestions, I think I do better to listen to Apples and avoid them all together (sort of hard during the Holidays)! I can usually stop a binge if I have a Protein.

There is a thread on here that says to always add protein to anything you eat. The thread is for "slow losers"

Like me! I think I will do like Long and go get a Beef stick tonight and slice some of it and take it with me. I also do better if I keep almonds around (the raw, unsalted kind.)

Gald you all like my photo, I would love to see more photos on here. I love to see who I am talking to. You can always take it back off If you don't want to keep it online!

I am taking my class to pack food boxes for Christmas for the Children tomorrow. That is always such a joy! I will decorate my house this weekend and I am actually looking forward to it!

Have a great day and it is GREAT to see more and more people posting!

Cathy,

I have no idea how to put a picture on here or how to make them small like your's.

I had gained 2 lbs on vacation and luckily they hit the road this morning and took another half with them. Whew!! I was really worried. All the self doubts started coming back. GRRRR

I am going to start a job on Monday. I will work a whole 2 to 2 1/2 hours a day from 6am to 8 or 830am. I will open the rec center in my community. My plan is to then bring my workout clothes with me and workout at 830 when I get off. I'm there, I might as well. At first I wasn't sure I wanted to get up and go to a job that early for only 2 hours then thought why not? The extra money will come in handy for my new wardrobe and I will force myself to workout while there. A win win situation.

Happy Friday night!

Well, today was an eventful day! Some good, some bad, some interesting.

Good news first, I took my class to a food pantry today and we packed Christmas food boxes for needy families. That was so good for me and my students!

The bad news, with the economy so bad the state is cutting budgets! Our college president is asking us to take a 10% cut in pay! That is a huge cut! That is on top of the fact that they have already closed two programs and let 3 good instructors go! I guess a 10% cut is better than 100%! If we don't do this more of the faculty will lose their jobs! This is a really tough time for us! I pray the economy gets better soon... but I bet it will be a long time before we see improvement!

Now for the interesting. I went to my doc today and he gave me a fill, another 1 cc. He said the Realize band, which I have is different from the Lap-Band and he has realized that it needs more fills to really work.

I have been a very slow loser... Maybe that is why. I have a good fill now and am at 7cc. He seems to think my weight loss will speed up now. I sure hope so!

Long: congrats on your job. I leave for work at 6:30 every day and drive for 30 minutes; on Monday and Tuesdays I have night classes too, so I have 2 12 hour days and 3 7.5 hour days for a total of 46.5 hours.

I would like some cheese with my whine now...

I love my job! I think you will love yours too Long! And Like Allie says... it is a win-win!

Well, I am going to go and watch Ghost Whisper... I love that show!

Cathy,

Sorry to hear about your budget cut. Times are getting tough all over, it seems. I am required to bill for 30 hrs face to face time with clients every week. You would think that would be easy in a 40 hr week, but theres so many other things that get in the way. I have to work most of the day tomorrow to see more clients and get my hours in. That will make it about a 55 hr week for me this week. I think thats waaaay too much work for what they pay me! whine...whine..........

But hey, glad to hear you have another fill. I am scheduled for one next wednesday. Maybe that will jump start me again cuz its been stalled for quite a while. Doesn't help that we went out to eat tonite. We went to Ryans, which is a great buffet/steak house. I had a few bites of a baked chicken breast, a small piece of baked salmon, some mashed potatoes and I was about done! But I did find room for a tiny slice of chocolate cake and some ice cream. For the whole day, the calories added up to about 800 so I guess I didnt over indulge. Gee, there was soooo much to choose from. I am ready for more restriction or I am never gonna make it thru the christmas holidays.

Hang in there Junies! We are awesome!

Looking good, Allie! Its such a good feeling to be able to wear something in a smaller size that looks good! After my pigout at Ryans friday nite, today I am down 2 more lbs. go figure. To bad I can't count on that or I would be eating out every night! I am still going for another small fill this wednesday. Hope it won't be too much. I have been very lucky so far and haven't had any problems, just a few times when I ate too fast and it hurt my chest. Hate it when I do that!

Does anyone else have problems setting goals? I am just taking what comes along, but I feel like if I say I will lose two more lbs to get to 180 by Christmas, I will set myself up to fail. If I dont say that and it happens, I will be happy. If it doesn't happen, I won't feel like I failed to make my goal. Am I a chicken or what? What are your thoughts on this? What works for you guys?

Luv ya Junies....

Hey Allie...wow you looked so pretty on your way to that party. Love the sweater.

Strike...I tried to not set goals when it came to losing weight. Main reason was that I had failed at dieting too many times and was disappointed in myself each time. Decided that with the band, I would accept whatever and not worry about any time frame to lose. I would plateau for a few weeks and would just put the scale away for awhile so I didn't drive myself nuts. Those numbers on the scale can ruin a day if you let it!

Thanks june bugs for all the compliments!!!!

Strike.. I tried setting goals and would end up not making it then I would binge.. sooo for me I can't set goals.. I find I do better by just seeing how it goes.. if the scale is down great. If it's up I excercize more. I don't know if that helps..lol

We had a great time and I did lot's of dancing. I have to tell you how great it was not being one of the heavy ones at the party. I hope that doesn't sound to bitchy.. I just used to always be one of the biggest and being close to normal was so nice. I danced my butt of and felt so great.. my hubby was constantly complimenting me on how great I looked and how small I felt in his arms.. It really was a magical night. Tomorrow is our 18th wedding anniversary and I am getting a fill so we are going out for a anniversary dinner tonight.. I love this time of year being so busy!!! Have a great night! xoxo

I was able to buy a pair of pants at costco today and have them fit!! I was so sure they wouldnt' that I tried them on after paying in the restroom. That way if they didn't fit I could return them right away. Now I just need a nice sweater or something to go with for my Chrismtas party. YAHOO!! scale has been stuck though.

As for goals. I have always felt that way in the past. I'd not hit it and beat myself up and usually binge. This time however, I have done some of the challenges here on LBT. I did the Halloween one and now am doing the end of year one. I exceeded my Halloween goal and it was so exhilerating. My year end, I should hit, I need to lose 3 more, but then again haven't lost in over 2 weeks. But don't think I will beat myself up for not making it as I'm doing pretty darn good. I set the goal to be at 90 lbs lost by year end, I wanted 100 but thought that might be too aggressive so my next goal will then be 100 by Valentines day.

I too love feeling more 'normal'. I feel like I am 'fitting in' so much better and don't stick out so much as the fat lady in the room. though I still sometimes feel I am. I have a bad body image and picture myself much larger than I am. When DH & I were in Vegas in Oct. we were at the pool. I'd pick out body types I felt were the same as me and DH would say how far off I was and then he'd pick some that he felt were close to me (he was scared to death to do this as he was afraid he'd upset me but then when he saw how large of bodies I was picking out he figured he was safe. LOL), I was amazed at the difference in the body types we each picked out. I was very pleased to realize I was smaller than I thought I was, but still far from 'thin', but closing in on 'normal'. Okay I am rambling, hope you get what I mean.

Great Outfit Allie! I am so glad you had so much fun at the party! Itn't it great to be living to the fullest! finally!

Long, I too have a poor body image. I am now dating a photographer some and he takes a lot of pictures of me. I has given me a new perspective on how I look. When ever I feel bad about myself I look at some of the photos and it helps. Now I can see the difference and how I am losing and it encourages me. I lose so slowly I really need to be able to see it. You and Apples and Allie must look GREAT with all the weight you have lost.

Strike: My last fill really helped. I now have 7cc in my band. I don't set firm goals, if I had I would really be in the dumps by now. I just want to be smaller each time I go to the doctor. LOL

Well, cold and snowy here and I got up too early today to cook dinner and get to church. I fix Sunday dinner for my son and his family and my daughter and her family. I have 5 adults and my 3 grandchildren every Sunday! It is such a blessing. Apples you will appreciate, since you cook a lot, I can cook like that and then eat very little.

Take care Junies! See you Monday

Hey junies..

Long!! I missed you girl! I hope you find a great sweater soon..

I too see myself as larger sometimes and sometimes smaller. For instance when I was heavier i would walk by a mirror and say WHO THE HELL IS THAT??? I couldn't believe I was that big. In my mind I was smaller. But now that I have lost weight I walk by the mirror and say damn I am looking hot.. lol.. I look smaller than I think I am. I am always picking out people and saying do I look like that??? And hubby ALWAYS says.. honey you look so little I could put you in my pocket.. he said that when I was morbidly obese too.. lol.. He knows the right things to say.. today is our 18th wedding anniversary so after all this time he should know.. lol

Have a great day junies.. Cathy your pic's always look beautiful.. xoxo

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
