Burping, Burping, Burping, help

Recommended Posts

Hi Kimberley....This exact thing happenned to me. The gas didn't come for a couple of days, I thought my stomach was going to pop. I looked like I was 6 months pregnant. Then it starts coming out (the other end) and the burping begins. I am now 2 weeks past and I really started feeling better after 1 week of surgery. Give it a few more days and take your GasX. Walking seemed to help but it was uncomfortable... Keeping drinking your liquids and proteins..My personal feeling is that the stomach is troubled and starts creating gas from anything that comes in it. As it heals, that all gets better. I really didn't feel great till after 1 week and a few days.

Thanks for the response. I was getting a little worried. I am 4 days out and looking forward to being a week out where hopefully things will be better. Walking does help but I still feel weak. I'm going to get better with time - that's what I keep telling myself.

I know what you mean....I was getting worried when I was going through it and I didn't seem to find many people who shared the same problem. All I can tell you is that I was able to walk 1/4 mile within the 4 days after surgery. And, I couldn't have done more...I just didn't feel well enough to do so. Then, at 1 week and 3 days, I walked my 3 miles which is what I did before surgery. So, just listen to your body...the gas, for me, was the worst part. I'm still burping with a little shoulder pain but not nearly like it was... At least, now I feel normal. My inscisions are losing their scabs too and it was exactly 2 weeks ago that I had surgery. Each day gets better and just take those short walks till you feel like doing more. Good luck.

I had lap band placed on July 3rd. Yesterday I thought I was doing wonderful. Last night and today is a different story. I don't know if I over did it with drinking liquids to fast or if it is additional gas pains. I feel this uncomfortable fullness in my chest & it feels like I'm going to explode. I walk around and try to make it better but only helps for a minute. I can't get hardly any liquids down without having this feeling. Is anyone else experiencing this or do I need to call dr. I am forcing myself to drink becuase I need Protein & liquids. I'm just a little concerned cause I feel like I'm going backwards instead of foward. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Kim:confused2:

oh yes, it's gas. You've got to MOVE. Move, move, move. It is really awful, I know. I would even have trouble breathing which would cause me to panic. Ugh. Seriously, you've got to move. And, don't even waste your money on GasX...it does nothing. Good luck...with me, the gas lasted about one week. (actually, 5 days, because I didn't get it right away).

Yes, I agree gas-x not worth the money I paid. I woke up this morning after a good night sleep and feel lots better. Still have the gas but 90% better. Just ready to get some energy where I feel like doing more things.

I am one year out and I still burp a lot. I mostly burp when I am hungry and when I am full...weird huh?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
