What's on your grocery list? Menu?

Recommended Posts

I'd like to start eating as close to the diet post-op as I can. I haven't been banded yet, but as I've said in other posts, fingers crossed I have my surgery within 6 months!

What is on your grocery list typically?

Do you shop multiple times a week? Once per week? Bi-weekly?

Do you plan a menu and shop by it, or do you kind of buy whatever you think you'll feel like eating that week?

My biggest problem is having to eat on the go, and not having much time to prepare meals, so the more portable the better if possible.

Hello

sugar free products (crystal light, Fruit20, Propel, water) for drinks

Protein - chicken, fish, turkey (including deli turkey)

cheese - low fat

Yogart - low fat and smoothies during the summer (low fat)

Vegs - any kind

Fats - Salad Dressing and light mayo

Peanut Butter - when I want a snack (tablespoon) with four crackers

Nuts - snack

Protein Bar - when you are on the go and need something to eat

Protein Drinks - breadfast or oatmeal or grits

Hope this helps!

I shop probably bi-weekly unless I forgot something or wanted to make something particular that I didn't have.

Typically my list is the same things everytime.. milk, eggs, meats (beef, pork, chicken), frozen veggie sides, 100 calorie Snacks, and onions. I go through onions like crazy, I seem to find a reason to put them into every dish!

I also go to allrecipes.com and look up new recipes for beef dishes or chicken dishes before shopping and if something new and exciting catches my eye, I'll add ingredients to my list that I don't normally get.

My list hasn't changed much from pre-band.. I was gung ho about fresh fruit & veggies right after banding, but they go bad way before I can finish them, so I stopped doing that. Frozen veggie sides & canned fruit is how I get them now.. except my onions!

I buy groceries bi-weekly (on payday). Here are some things I always get:

nuts

yogurt

Protein Shakes

fresh fruit- all kinds (lovin watermelon and cantalope right now)

fresh veggies- spaghetti squash, fresh corn on the cob, etc.

frozen mixed veggies

lentils

Tostitos spinach dip- I use it in everything, even in whole wheat Pasta salad instead of salad dressing!

Protein Bars

cheese to snack on

whole grain crackers

100 calorie popcorn

I am going to start working on loosing again July 7th (I'm on vacation now LOL). I hope to have surgery at the end of August or first of Sept and I hope to be down about 25 to 30lbs by then (not sure if that's realistic or not). I'm thinking I'll be doing Protein Shakes for Breakfast and lots of tuna and chicken for lunch and supper.

I used to love to cook...because I loved to eat (still do, but can't eat much and the food spoils). I am single and so, not much cooking going on in this house.

My list includes the following:

beef Jerky

nuts

fat free cottage cheese

parmesian cheese (flavor boost)

low fat string cheese

tuna (plain)

tuna (flavored, lunch kits...spicy thai, sundried Tomato, lemon pepper w/crackers)

shaved deli meat

EAS Protein shakes...not the Myoplex

eggs

chicken thighs (breasts are too dry)

shrimp

canned Beans

canned Soup (Progresso lentil soup rocks)

edamame (soybeans...protein, carbs, and fat...all in one package)

grits

canned chili

Peanut Butter (natural and the peanut powder PB2)

carnation instant Breakfast (add PB2 to it...chocolate peanut butter shake...mmmmmm)

dry milk powder

butter

mayo (not the healthy kind either)

Paul Newman's honey mustard dressing

Kashi frozen meals (one meal equals 2 portions for me...they are quite tasty and pretty healthy)

Crystal light

gin:)

Right now, I am trying to concentrate on protein...my hair started to fall out this weekend (3 months post-op)

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
