honestly maybe you should look for another dr. it doesnt sound like your dr has your best interest cause if she did she would see that the surgery is medically necessary in your case. You have tried and can not accomplish it on your own. keep us posted

Sounds like my old doc. There were more reasons then just weight loss surgery though that I found another doctor and I so far am not regretting it. Don't know that the new one will one approve surgery either yet. But in the last month I have been very impressed with his office and him.

So for the rest of my medical problems its been a good thing I changed doctors. Will have to see about the band though. Don't wait a year to try and convince your current doctor like I did. Bring it up again with them and if they still claim its the *easy way out* go find you another one.

Cause losing with the band s NOT Easy. It's still allot of work.

Change drs ASAP. You know your body better than anyone else. Lapband is NOT the easy way out and shame on her for not trying to encourage your decisions to better your life. Get to finding a new dr. You could try putting your foot down and say look either you work with me and help me or I will simply find a dr who will. It may change her mind??

I would explain to your doctor that you pay the bill to see her and your asking for her help with weightloss and if she can't see beyoud the excersise, eat less thing I'd find a new doctor ASAP-

Losing weight via the lap band is not easy and if she was an informed doctor she would know there is a process before and after the surgery that must be followed in order for it to work.

its very sad when doctors are not informed on a process that can help the health of a patient.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
