Hi! I was banded on the 24th too! I have Clear Liquids for 1 week then all liquids - so far so good. My pain is mostly gas (especially my shoulder!) - the incisions were fine until today - I think I overdid it - I will be more careful tomorrow. As for eating - I have not really felt hungry. Just keep the goal in mind and hang in there - you are doing great and you can do this! It will be just a short time until you can start trying real food. Write if you need a buddy!

I don't know about you, but I've been supplementing my Soups with Protein. If you have a good blender or food processor you might want to try it. My husband had bbqd steak, so I took about 3 oz of it, cut it into small pieces and added it to my Tomato basil Soup and blended like hell. It was good and satisfying and went down smooth. I also did the same with the veggies he grilled. He put cubed potatoes, bell peppers, onions, garlic, olive oil and spiced in foil and cooked on the grill. I added some of that to my soups and blended. It was delicious and smooth. Also did the same with canned chicken and chicken noodle soup. That may help with your hungry feeling.

Congratulations on your banding! The gas is probably one of the worst parts - it's all that air they pumped into your stomach to do the procedure. I didn't think I would make it through that phase either. By day 9, I was so hungry, but I just kept telling myself that I only had 5 days left, 4 days left, 3 days left . . . until I was there. YOU CAN DO IT!!! It took a lot of courage to get this procedure and make the decision to make life style changes so don't doubt yourself now. My paperwork didn't mention that I could have Protein Shakes so I had not been drinking them. I went out and bought a Protein Shake on day 10 and starting having a 2 oz. serving mixed with soy milk twice a day and that helped a lot with the hunger. You are allowed skim milk also so you can mix it with juice, Water, or skim milk. Give it a try

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
